Petition Concerning SHIFT NC or NC Youth Connected in Onslow County
TO: Onslow County Commissioners, Onslow County Board of Education, United Way, PEERS, Boys and Girls Club, Onslow County Partnership for Children, and NC-Camp Lejeune District Schools aboard MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River
We, the citizens of Onslow County are opposed to SHIFT NC partnering with your organization or any other organization within Onslow County. SHIFT NC’s methods of “Reducing Teen Pregnancies” are contrary to the moral values of our community. Having them work with our youth, children and grandchildren will undermine our rightful role in raising our children. SHIFT NC must be stopped from implanting its insidious messages of the sexual revolution in our youth and children.
Citizens of Onslow County, if you agree and desire to see SHIFT NC and its harmful agenda kept from entering Onslow County, please sign this petition!

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to protect our children. We are nearing the two hundred and fifty mark and I truly believe that reaching this milestone will force the people in charge to finally pay attention to us.

I do not want shift NC to be taught in the schools that my children and grandchildren are taught in. If you want to express your sexual preference teach it at home. Pregnancy is not the problem immorality is! Especially teen pregnancy in a place full of young married military families!!
If and when I feel it is time to talk to my daughter about having sex or any other sexual information that needs to be given, I want to so it in the way I see fit. I do not want SHIFTS innuendo shoved down her throat. It is a parents place to teach our children not this program, the school or anyone else!!!
Although my children are no longer students in the Onslow County school system, I do not believe that SHIFT is in the best interest of our students nor does it reflect our community values.
While I do believe sex education is very important, after researching some of SHIFT's teaching material, I feel this particular program is not something I would allow my child to parricipate in.
My understanding of SHIFT NC is that the underlying theme is to promote an acceptance of any sexual behavior - some of which I consider not to be in the best interest of our children/youth. This program should not be allowed in our schools or youth programs.
We have to stop this and stand for and protect our children...what this organization proposes is not what they intend nor is it acceptable to allow these forced views... STOP THE INDOCTRINATION OF CORRUPTION AND DECEIT FOR FAILED PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL AGENDAS NOW!
I was at the county commissioner's meeting and I will stand with OPOS. Count me in. Art

Keep a for profit organization out of our schools. There are plenty of sex education classes available to be given in schools by Pregnancy Care Centers, Chuches, and free Non Profit Pro Life Groups. Why shoul are tax money for education go to a for profit group and when the same material is available for free?
