Lebanon still burns or dumps 85 % of its trash in more than 900 open sites, poisoning the air and burdening poor coastal and rural communities with toxic smoke. Doctors are recording spikes in asthma, skin disease and some cancers near these burn pits.
Why is this urgent?
On 17 December 2024 the members of parliament ratified a National Integrated Solid-Waste Management Strategy promising country-wide sorting, recycling and composting. Yet the draft 2025 budget has zero funds allocated for the plan. If MPs vote it through unchanged, the strategy is dead on arrival.
Sign and share this petition, tag your MP with #StopBurningUs, and ask a simple question: “Where is the money for the waste strategy in July’s budget?”
Lebanon doesn’t need another plan gathering dust—it needs the cash to clear the trash.

Living in Jounieh is unbearable lately because of the constant smoke. My kids are sick all the time and the government just ignores us while they steal. FIX THIS!!!
