STOP Building on the Green Fields of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

AONB are protected, this should not be ignored.

I live permanently in croyde village and quite frankly the summer weeks of recent years have been hell. At times we feel surrounded by the noise and the volume of traffic (which we have accepted is part of living here) but is now becoming alarming. I have to carefully plan times to ‘head out’ to avoid sitting in traffic. In winter my road is like ghost town and every where closes. There has to be a balance. And don’t even get me started on the sewage issues!!!! None of my children will be able to live near by when they leave home as there is nothing affordable for miles. The council has to take action as surely they can see the problems are just getting worse ??

Time to stop now before this beautiful area is ruined forever. Once it has gone you can never get it back....

Please- no more developments in Croyde- it’s not necessary. It’s driving out locals who have loved and lived there for years.

Stop building expensive holiday homes and start caring about the people who live and work in this beautiful VILLAGE .. that needs services, affordable homes and a better sustainable transport plan.

Croyde is over developed!

Please stop destroying a beautiful place, and building on land which has never before been occupied. The whole point of croyde will Be lost forever if we lose these treasured spaces

Stop putting more houses up on our green fields. The sewage problem needs to be sorted out before the place can cope with more housing. Stop dumping sewage in the sea & put in a proper system to cope before developing further. It’s not acceptable what is happening in Croyde with waste.

The traffic congestion is already passed its breaking point

Why is the council allowing this over development and not providing homes for local residents? Why is North Devon region not providing its quotas elsewhere? The roads are well over capacity, the infrastructure is stretched to breaking, there’s no accommodation to support local businesses. Unfortunately if the councils aren’t providing the new homes quota then this opens the door for development in places where it wouldn’t normally be permitted or acceptable. The councils need to act now to stop Croyde being ruined as a result of their lack of housing provisions elsewhere.

Help protect Croyde from over development

It is ridiculous that green field sites could be built on solely for investment opportunities, which is what these developments are. These are not what the government has in mind when it tells councils to build housing. It doesn't fulfil a housing need, it's just investment for rich people, and worsens the local housing crisis as well as ruining the local environment.

Stop building for the rich, instead support the local community

I moved to North Devon for its wealth of nature and biodiversity. If buildings are granted permission on green fields, you push out nature and hamper the efforts of so many to protect the natural environment. The very designations the area is renowned for such as being “first class by nature” and possessing a UNESCO Biosphere becomes at risk of being undermined and damaged beyond repair. Not to mention using local lanes around Croyde and Georgeham for work is actually impossible during peak holiday season. It actually is becoming completely dysfunctional. Most businesses must consider the impact on local communities, further housing plans should be dismissed if they only further the gains of developers at the cost to local livelihoods, the environment and many individuals who are not directly linked to the community but who work in neighbouring areas affected by yet more transport issues. This isn’t sustainable.

I work for the NHS in the Community and it is very difficult to visit patients because of the amount of traffic already!

Enough with building on green fields. Plans show access being made available for future development further up the hill.

The more you build in this beautiful area the less people will be interested in holidaying there. You’re cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Please stop building, the roads are full and businesses can’t open as locals can’t afford to live near enough to work there.
