Breed specific bans do nothing to change the behavior of any breed. Person specific bans are what should be implemented. This county has not done their homework and are fear mongering!

You should NEVER have to give your beloved pet away because someone has labelled them as a "dangerous" breed. Pitbulls are amazing dogs and I've been around countless dogs and pitbulls in my life and not one has been aggressive in any way shape or form, but I've experienced aggressive toy dogs and breeds that you would not even consider.
Do NOT blame the breed.

Breeds of dogs are not dangerous. Dogs are made dangerous by bad owners.

I have a Pitbull Rottweiler Cross and she is the sweetest dog I’ve ever had and is about my 15th. Dogs, like children are the product of the people who raise them. My Ginger is the gentlest dog I’ve ever had. Gentler than my 14 lb poodle and friendlier. Please don’t remove this dog from its family, it is part of the family.

This is outdated and ill informed by-law. Even Montreal revoked such a by-law. Honestly I live in Guysborough and feel there are more important issues to address. Finally this is a nine year old pet. Surely there can be extenuating circumstances while revisiting this by-law.

Breed Specific laws and rental policies are based on ignorance, not facts. They have harmed and led to the deaths of countless harmless dogs and they have no place in modern societies. Dog bite statistics are grossly misrepresented in pop culture and in the media. A 2013 large-scale study of dog bite statistics published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association found that breed was NOT a factor in dog bite related fatalities. QUOTE: "Conclusions and Clinical Relevance—Most DBRFs [Dog Bite Related Fatalities] were characterized by coincident, preventable factors; breed was not one of these. Study results supported previous recommendations for multifactorial approaches, instead of single-factor solutions such as breed-specific legislation, for dog bite prevention." https://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/abs/10.2460/javma.243.12.1726?journalCode=javma

Breed based by-laws are completely unacceptable. American Staffordshire dogs are not any more dangerous than other dogs if raised correctly. They are sweet natured if treated well just like German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rotweillers, Mastiffs, etc.

That's not right to deem that breed vicious especially since it mainly depends on the growth and wellbeing on how the owners treat the dog this bylaw should be dissolved

This is rediculous. Every dog has the potential to bite, and half of those bites could cause a lot of damage.

Every time I read or hear about something like this my heart hurts and then I get angry. I myself own the sweetest pitbull who loves people, playing and life. No one has the right to ban a breed or breeds of animals. It’s unconscionable to take an beloved part of a family away from them and I do not support it nor will i stand for it in my home province. In my opinion is is based on pure ignorance, the public needs to be educated on all dog breeds because statistics show very different results then the local news.

I cannot believe a law like this exsists. As an owner of rottweilers I am shocked...it is never the breed it is bad owners. More bites happen with small breeds but its acceptable because they are little. It is how any animal is raised, not a breed.

Punish the deed not the breed
It's not the dog, it's the owner!
