The genes of a dog only determines so much and environment controls the rest. Despite that Labrador dogs have caused more attacks on people than pitbulls and other stigmad breeds, they are still discriminated against.

It has been proven to be ineffective in other jurisdictions. As a health inspector who respond to animal bites, I see more bites from Golden and small dogs.

No dog breed should be banned, I know pure bred and mixed breed pit bulls who are the sweetest gentlest dogs I've ever encountered. No I don't own one, I own 4 cats, but I love the breed. Any animal can be unpredictable and attack, it's how they are raised and trained that makes the difference. I personally would be more afraid of a chihuahua that I would be a pit bull or Rottweiler. This type of thinking is antiquated.

Banning a specific breed is prejudicial. The method of resolving the issue is cruel and heartless by the municipality. The by-law needs to be updated and in the meantime the dog should stay with his family.

Stop blaming the wrong end of the leash - point your filthy fingers at the human that's holding the leash. Unless there is something medically or neurologically wrong with an animal, it's not dangerous unless taught to be so.

It's all in how people train their dogs, no breed of dog is 100 percent good or bad. If someone is a responsible pet owner they should be allowed to own whatever dog breed they want.

I know 2 wonderful dogs who would be banned and alls they have done is show my kids and I lots of love and they are not even ours.

Really not impressed with the breed discrimination. Humans have done terrible things but we cant lock up every human on earth and say they are capable of the same. Guyborough county minicipality should be ashamed of themselves. I would leave your area for a dog friendly one. Cowards!

Could not imagine living somewhere with breed restirctions. This is almost 2019, time for people to realize a dog isnt born aggressive because its a pitbull or a lab or a poodle. Its the way the person brought it up.

This is ridiculous. There is a lot of research that shows that BSL legislation is misguided at best, and cruel. This dog is 9 years old, has no history of aggression, and should be left with his family. Only 1% of dogs are truly aggressive, just as only a very small percentage of humans are psychopaths. Dogs become aggressive because of the way humans have treated them. In this case, there is no evidence to show that Chico will attack anyone. This legislation needs to be struck down. And Chico needs to be left to age and die with his people. Have you no hearts?

I believe that it is all in how the animal is raised, I have a part lab/part pitbull and he is the sweetest boy ever; super friendly and great with kids, adults and other animals! Now a golden retriever that is supposed to be "so good with kids" bit my cousin a month ago! So why discriminate?

I believe that any dog has the potential to attack but depending on its environment & the way they have been raised. I do not own a pit bull or pit mix but do not believe the breed it’s self is to blame but the owners that are not properly training them. Breed specific laws are completely unacceptable and a waste of time because the breed is wonderful.
