having this bylaw reveals a very backwards and out of date mindset for the area and its politicians.
A simple search will show that the most common dog bites/attacks actually come from very common breeds (like labs) and smaller dogs.
It's about the owners not the animal.

This dog is very kind. Even humans who have threatened violence cannot be 'moved' unless they act on it.

I strongly believe that this Bylaw should be amended. It is not the breed that makes a animal dangerous , it is the owners who raise them to be. I do not believe it is fair or right to remove any animal from their home and family when they are not showing signs of aggression in any way. This dog has been a part of the family for 9 years and to rehome the dog at that age is not only hard on the owners but also the pet themselves. I would like you to please have some compassion for this family and if you yourself have a pet think about how you would feel if you were told you only had a few days to find him or her a new home or they were going to be taken away and rehomed by someone else. Most people think of their pets as children, could you imagin someone coming and taking your child and placing them with someone you did not know. My heat breaks every time I think of it. I also want you to think...if this dog is rehomed, is he really going to a better home, is he going to be treated with the respect that all animals should be treated with no matter what breed they are. I am utterly heat broken by this letter sent to this family asking them to remove their dog from their home. How is this motion going to affect the dogs mental and physical health being forced to leave the only home he has ever known and being sent to live with a stranger. Stress does not only occure in humans but pets as well. I ask you to please think about how these actions are going to affect the dog and his family. I beg you to please amend this Bylaw and allow this family to keep their dog as it is not the dogs fault for being the breed it was born and having a label that it should not. Animals are like humans and they do not ask to be born but when they are they desurve to be given a chance like any other and loved unconditionally like this family has. It is not our blood or nor what we look like that defines us, it's our hearts and kind souls that make us who we are. Any breed can be dangerous

Every dog has the potential to attack. This 9 year old family pet is unlikely to start now.

This is ridiculous, is Guysborough going to repay all the money put into owning this family member??? The breed of the dog is dangerous, get rid of this outdated law and educate the law enforcers.

I think it's a heartless act !! As long as the owners are responsible (which seems they have been) their family member shouldn't have to be removed because of it's breed. It's prejudice and not necessary. How cruel to put the family through such grief and trauma, especially to the fur baby!!

There are a lot of pitties and am staffs here and they're huge sookie babies. How dare you do this it is wrong on sooo many levels!!!!!
