I had the good luck to have a lab/am staff mix as a best friend for 12, too short, years. Like Chico, my Aggie was a wonderful dog. It’s not the breed that’s the problem.

Absolutely ridiculous . This is clearly outdated. Get the facts and maybe relook at your bylaws . Heartbreaking to separate a 9 year old dog from their family. With such short notice too . I'd rather move provinces then part with my dog.

dogs should not be judged on their breed but their behavior

This is crazy, leave the poor dog with his family. He is 9 years old for god sake, I’m sure if he was going to attack someone,he would have by now.

Breed-specific bylaws are misguided. Please allow this family to keep their beloved dog.

This is law not based in science and evidence of all experts! Archaic laws need to be addressed and changed!

There are no bad dogs. Just bad owners.

have worked with animal rescues and the SPCA for years, this bylaw is an absolute peace of trash put in place by people who know nothing about dogs. A disgrace for Nova Scotia.

Breed specific legislation is as outdated as a ‘whites only’ water fountain. You are my ch more likely to be savaged by a small dog than by a large breed as persons that own a small dog rarely train them properly. Persons with large breeds (esp bully breeds) invest hours of effort and money into properly socializing and training their pets bc they know that others may be more frightened of them.

Any law that would cause a family to have to rehome their pet after almost a decade together for no other reason than the breed is 'seen as dangerous' is disgusting and archaic and should be abolished. This poor family, my heart bleeds for them.
