Every dog deserves the right to live with their family. Banning the breeding and sale of these breeds is another thing but ripping a dog away from a family that cares about it just to put it down makes you an evil person, not a noble one.

This bylaw needs to be reversed immediately. Ridiculous that a family has to get rid of their family pet that they’ve had for NINE YEARS who has never hurt anyone.

I am from Guys. Co. and I am shocked and disgusted by this law.I own 2 beautiful Am Staffs and they travel with me.This makes me not want to go home for a visit!

I happen to be the proud Mom of a rescue who is predominantly AmStaff and I guarantee you she is much gentler than most small breed dogs she meets at the dog park. She would allow you to take the food from her mouth and then ask you for a belly rub. With all that is know these days about the influence of the owner on a dogs behavior, I cannot believe that this would be allowed to happen in NS. I am appalled and embarrassed. Please, people of Guysborough County, ditch your BSL.

Dog bans are ridiculous. I don’t believe it’s a breed specific problem, it’s all in how they are raised.

BSL does not address the issue of poor dog ownership . It can only punish good dog owners just because of breed and not actions !

Sounds like there were no problems whatsoever for 9 years. Instead of policing dog owners in this manner why not focus on banning back yard breeding and having better animal protection laws in general.

Disgusting state of affairs when you rip a 9 year old dog from their family because you've decided, with no reasonable logic, that it is likely to bite someone because of its breed. Not to mention giving the family so little time to rehome their dog. Time to join the modern world!

Breed has nothing to do with how a dog, or any pet reacts. It’s all in how it’s trained, and treated.
