This is an embarrassment to my country. We have progressed beyond this.
Beyond the BSL crap, you expect them to rehome family in a few days? You must think very little of the people that live there.

This is the most ridiculous law we adopted a dog from a shelter and he is part am staff no doubt more am staff than anything else he loves everyone he meets kids adults babies other animals barks like a nut when tied out but on walks or out in the car it's all love can't believe someone called about a dog that has grown up with 3 small children and has never bitten anyone. Get your heads out of your asses just because a dog has a certain genetic background does NOT make them violent... all dogs have the potential to bite should we ban them all... this makes me so angry

The dog is 9 years old, they've been raising him just fine. Let them keep their family member. This is just being prejudice against a breed.

Guysborough country should be ashamed of this. Whoever put this forth and approved it - you're doing evil in the name of ignorance. Not necessity. Evil. You're dead wrong.
Remove yourself from office.

Those are very wonderful dogs. Breed bans do not work. Please reassess.

Perhaps contact someone that specializes in canine behavior before you choose to tear families apart. SO heartless and senseless to deem any animal ''possibly vicious'' based on a dna test....DISCRIMINATION to the extreme. Should hang your head Lloyd Hines, MLA Guysborough - Eastern Shore - Tracadi

I own 2 pit mixes and both are amazing loving family pets. They are both excellent with my 1.5 year old son. Neither of them would hurt anything or anyone. Please reconsider this terrible law.. Good dogs and family's shouldn't be punished for what other people may fear.

BSL is wrong and not based on science. Bad owners/breeders can make any breed aggressive and selective breeding for aggression compounds the problem. Please use the Calgary model for Dog Control. My mixed breed has Am-Staf genes and is never aggressive but will try to jump into your arms because she is so happy to see you. Meanwhile a Chihuahua split open my groomers nose requiring several stitches.

People need to educate themselves regarding the “Bully Breed”. Stop discriminating against the breed and hold the owners accountable. These dogs are apart of people’s families. SHAME on you for tearing these families apart. This is Nova Scotia not Ontario or Montreal.

I am so disappointed in a government that would discriminate based on looks and administer punishment in such a discriminatory fashion. This is a nine-year-old family dog, that has never hurt anyone. Any dog is capable of inflicting injury. As is any human being for that matter. But I would hope, that you don’t make it a habit of incarcerating or passing judgment based on race, or looks, or background, or social status etc. Based on your discriminatory dog laws, and your willingness to uphold them, I would be concerned about all of your practices. Please reconsider and do what is right. And please, consider changing your laws so that they apply to dangerous dogs based on actions. It’s a much safer way for the people in your community. And much fai and please, consider changing your laws so that they apply to dangerous dogs based on actions. It’s a much safer for the people in your community. The city of Calgary has a great model that actually works.
