Because the early governing entities in the City of Carlsbad had a development plan, we now have an outstanding community where residential and commercial properties prosper without causing harm to each other.
We do have Palomar Airport in the mix. It operates under a Conditional Use Permit from the City of Carlsbad.
The Conditional Use Permit issued by the City of Carlsbad to Palomar Airport is not for large Commercial Jets.
Our surrounding communities would be seriously affected by Safety Concerns, Noise Levels, Air Quality and a host of health and ‘peaceful enjoyment’ issues if Commercial Jets (such as AA and UA) were allowed to operate flights at Palomar..
For these reasons I Strongly Oppose AA or UA use of Palomar Airport.

This is not a large jet airport. There is nothing but overwhelming opposition to this from the public, any claim otherwise is a lie. It’s shameful how this airport expansion is being jammed down the residents throats. We do not accept.

I have a home in Carlsbad and the planes are so noisy they wake me up. During the day they interrupt conversations and the planes are flying right over my home creating significant pollution.

I don’t live on CLD flight path yet the commercial & private jets fly north at the AH lagoon at a low altitude which shows their disregard of the community & CLD’s inability to enforce regulations. More jets will make the issue worse. No to more jets at CLD

The airport traffic is an infringement on the quality of life. Hour after hour the noise makes it impossible to enjoy the nature of our environment and outdoor activities. I'm sure if big jets come to pass, home sales will be negatively impacted. As a renter, I enjoy this area very much. The location is convenient to many shops and amenities but I would never purchase because of the overwhelming noise pollution. The carelessness of Carlsbad city government to allow it is beyond the pale. Shame on the people who were elected to lead and care for this beautiful city. Act like like you care and grow a backbone.

Yes, I knew there was an airport in Carlsbad. However, I never thought it would be allowed to go off the rails (pardon the train reference).
The citizens of Carlsbad and the surrounding communities should have a significant say in the airport's growth and its impact on the citizenry.

We want to express our deep concerns as both Citizens & Homeowners in the City of Carlsbad, and Taxpayers as well.
With the announcements of expanded use of Palomar Airport & potential physical expansion plans, we are impacted in multiple ways.
Quality of life is impacted. Being retired, 95% of our lives are not at work, but at home. What we hear, when we hear it, and how many times a day we will hear it, is a huge factor in our hour-by-hour days and evenings. This is an impact for hundreds of my immediate neighbors, and an impact for thousands of my fellow Carlsbad residents, many of whom I have sold homes to in my professional life.
Air quality is impacted. We regularly have to clean our homes' exterior of a black, somewhat oily residue. That includes small patio furniture, decking, windows & window screens, and landscaping plants.
It impacts what we both breathe, all day long, all night long. More air traffic could be, and likely is, a major negative contributor to our health, wellbeing, and longevity.
In my professional life, I found that any homebuyer, including ourselves, assesses a multitude of "risks" when deciding to purchase a home. A Homebuyer buys to stabilize their lives. Their expectation is that their environment will be stable as well, and not to have the game-table changed under their feet (or above their heads)!
When you make your collective decisions, please stand in our shoes.

Please put a hard limit as to times that airplanes, helicopters, and jets can take off and land over our houses: such as 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.. Most airports in southern California have those limits in place. Please do not let more commercial aircraft or freight fly out of this airport. We live right under their flight path. The noise is bad but the polution is worse. Do what any reasonable person would do. Thank you.
