The city of clovis does not need to be involved in anything that is in competition with local businesses. If the commissioners agree to opening this gun range I hope they are ready for a lawsuit

I don't understand what "they" are thinking. We already have a PREMIER range at Patriot Outdoors. Patriot Outdoors caters not only to the hobbyist who punches paper, but the military shooter who gets needed training for deployments. I see no need for a cuty-run range, and I don't think over ever heard of one anywhere.
And where do they propose to put it? Dies the city even own a place to safely operate a range?

Please keep local businesses in business! We do not need another range.

The state does not need to be building a range when there is one already available and this is another example of government ovrreach to stifle small business.

It indeed does not make sense to compete with local businesses. Also the upkeep and safety of the range would take a lot more staffing and money than proposed.

A tax payer built range which is free to use will only cost more to operate for the state and will depreciate the true value necessary to run a Safe and law obiding range facility.
I will not use a government operates range As I feel it will attract the unsafe & uneducated gun owners. It may not be kept to the same regulations over time as a privately owned ranges are as well and therefor will become a dangerous place to practice safe shooting.

Federal, State, County and City money needs to be spent on more important items that will benefit all, not just a few people.

This is not a proper use of government money. If the state needs the facility for internal use then utilize resources already available. If the state is building this for civilian recreation the state does not need to be wasting money on citizen entertainment.

Although I agree that competition in business is great......I do NOT however agree that a "State" run facility is a good idea in an area that already has a proven AND community supported business. I want MY tax dollars spent in better ways.

Support private business not government run facilities that are wholly unresponsive to customers needs and wasteful of taxpayers dollars.

I believe the tax payers money would be better utilized if we use it to build a entertainment center for the teenagers with dancing video games pool tables and soda and food bar. It would be able to keep them off the streets and have something for everyone.

I am NOT in favor of government programs that compete with, or devalue local businesses. It is hard enough to stay in business in the hostile environment government creates without them competing for business. Please use our tax dollars more wisely. Our streets are in awful condition and you want to use precious resources to compete with local business? Have you lost your mind? We have two gun ranges now. We don't need, or want, government competing with them. DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!

They need to read Tuesday's Letter to the Editor. If Patriots Outdoors has ability to expand and is willing to hold competitions then why does the city need another outdoor range that the tax payers are going to have to support.
