Let’s say this is eco-friendly and you do this. Imagine the amount of events that will follow claiming the area as a party land. We cannot make Turtles to understand that they can use some other area as we are partying at your nest today!

The following is a statement released by the organizers. Please read carefully and discontinue this petition. It is no longer taking place in Rekawa or anywhere near a beach.
"Atman tribe want to communicate that we changed the location to an amazing river island near Ella, 3 daily shuttle buses to the location will be available, camping area (you have to bring your own tent), permission has been granted to make the festival in the new location, cheap available accommodation and amazing sound system martin audio are already confirmed.
Meeting point is arranged for the 20th january in Ella, we will post all the information, details, shuttle bus timetable, and how to arrive from colombo to ella (there is train and bus) as soon as possible.
We have changed the location to help to preserve the turtle conservation as we could disturb them with the music and the lights when they come to nest in the beach, as we've been informed by the pertinent authorities (FEO) federation of environment organizations, that the period of nesting of the turtles starts at the same time as our gathering and we could disturb this amazing animals while they are nesting on that beach therefore we decided to move our location where our mother earth cannot suffer any damage, we've been 20 years partying and we've never been to a party in such a beautiful place as the new location, we know we should inform you before and we are sorry for not doing it, but we got the information of the turtle nesting one week ago and we were waiting to get the new permission to make this information official, this morning we we were granted official permission and soon we will inform of all the details.

Did you not read what the comment says? The organizers of this festival are extremely environment conscious which cannot be said to the owners of the big resorts who are destroying everything. I have also been to several events by Atman Tribe and if you stay till the end, you will see the people who were partying themselves cleaning everything up and picking up all the trash. It is a policy of theirs to leave everything as it is. They promote a more responsible party culture which does not exist normally in Sri Lanka. and also this petition is completely irrelevant because as this issue was brought to the attention of the organizers, they changed the location to a place that's not even remotely close to the ocean so this is no longer an issue. The writers of this petition should update this information and stop spreading this petition online because the issue has been taken care of.

We, the organisers and team of Atman Festival would foremost wish to Thank You for providing us the awareness of the environmental impact we may cause in the programming and hosting of the intended festival at Rekawa Beach. We understand and respect the environmental protection laws and efforts taken by all to conserve the natural heritage of Sri Lanka, and would like to ensure you that we have officially arranged to relocate the festival to a safer private land location close to Ella, 100 kilometres from any beach areas, and away from any wildlife protection areas at risk.
However, we would like to clarify certain matters which has surfaced since the negative report of our festival’s nature and objective came out in the media.
Atman Festival, a non-profit organisation, has been in operation since 2011 and has never before experienced or contributed to direct environmental protests, degradation or damage as has been reported. Rekawa Beach, being the initial chosen location, was selected after our network of local supporters expressed the need for progressive assistance in the economic development and contribution to the businesses along the Southern Sri Lankan beach areas, which were devastated by the tsunami of 2004. Our festival attendees have since built valuable friendships and relationships with the local population of Tangalle and Rekawa, and continue to do so along their travels. The team of Atman Festival has also consistently taken the necessary steps to ensure the cleanliness of the festival area be kept to its maximum standard as it is in our policy to respect the space we hold in our responsibility.
We disapprove of the unjustified and untrue information provided by the media reportage as our previous festivals were not located at all directly on any beach. During the pre-production stage of the 2013 festival, we had consulted the locals and the nature guard on the environm

most of these comments come from the elite from colombo..people that never made nothing to protect their country. they don't know that preservation means give the local people the oportunitie to survive..if you don't they ll eat the turtles, cut the trees to sell, and destroy everything. this event is an opportunity to all the simple local people to make few $ to survive and not to eat the turtle….its very easy criticize from home, sitting in the couch, polluting the seas with your fancy shampoos, with ur suncream,..so lets try to focus on a bigger context, and analyze this in a better and constructive way…I'm personally respect all opinions, and i can guarantee that 80% of people criticizing this had never made nothing to protect their home country….and drugs, alcohol are everywhere, doctors, lawyers, police officers, hippies,…so thing and inform yourself before talk...
