SSF does not need this!!! We don't have the roads and infrastructure to support it. Did we just not go through a big water rationing crisis? Where will all this extra water come from, where will these cars park?

Hi neighbors,
If you are not aware of the following SSF city plans, you should be:
The plan is to build:
1. A new Civic Center and Library and Cultural Center on El Camino and Chestnut.
2. A new Police Station on Chestnut where Pet Club is now.
3. A new group of HIGH-RISE residential towers, between 8 and 15 (think Parkmerced) stories high, would be developed in the remaining, currently city-owned, former PUC, area to the north of Chestnut and El Camino, south of Kaiser, and west of Mission.
4. A new Fire Station at Camaritas and Arroyo.
Estimated costs are $157-173 million and include costs to acquire land needed for these projects, as well as parking.
Then they would raze the current Municipal Services Building on Arroyo to sell the land for multi-family development at approximately $8 million. The claim is that it is seismically unsafe...Awaiting proof.
The thought/hope/prayer is that Council can pay for all the costs of their new digs by selling the remaining land for development.
My thought is: Then why don't they sell the property first and then see where they are money-wise?
Fellow residents are up in arms and plan to protest en masse at Council meetings and the following.
Our position is that the residential buildings should be no higher than 4 stories.

A high-rise building this tall will do nothing to beautify SSF. It will only fill the coffers at City Hall. Think of the residents in SSF. Think about quality of life for the residents of SSF. Think about the neighborhood! Do something to make SSF a desirable city for everyone! Reduce the size of this building to 4 stories and NO MORE!

This development proposed for the PUC site is too tall, and encompasses too many units for this already congested area. There are other places in SSF, maybe not PUC property or RDA property, that can handle and would welcome this massive development, but not at ECR/Chestnut where traffic congestion is increasing, and a loss of quality of life is deteriorating as I write this. Maybe where this development should be built is another part of the City, not this site, but the 2011 General Plan which indicated this property would be high density is outdated. Seven years have passed and the San Francisco Bay Area is exploding with growth and more people. We want development, but we want SMART development, and building in this area is not "smart" nor sensible

Our Schools need to be updated especially Sunshine Gardens School. More Teachers need to be added as well as bigger classrooms, a new Library for the school, a promised Exploratorium and a bigger Cafeteria.

Thank you for organizing this. To place a high rise in any fashion in this quiet residential neighborhood is ridiculous, an urban planning nightmare and I question the legality of the details of this.
