Stop the Potential spreading of the Novel coronavirus in schools of York Region, Ontario

Parents have a right to be informed son they can make informed decisions concerning the health of their children.

This is critical to prevent outbreak of the deadly virus.

Students should wear mask, since so many students are from China.

Even though I am not part of Toronto, I strong believe that this quarantine should happen. We should act fast before it's too late. Racism may be a factor, but if we say that like how we did when SARS happened 17 years ago, we may lose many of those loved ones.

This is no longer about rights and freedoms of people possible infected. We need to keep the kids safe. Safety trumps their wants.

I think all students whose family members, or who have been in contact with a person who has travelled to China, should remain quarantined in their home for a minimum of 2 weeks. This has nothing to do with race, it has to do with the Heath and Safety of everyone! I don’t want to send my children to school in fear of contracting this virus!

Tell her to stay where she is as travelling is a big risk of getting the virus. An aircraft is a closed chamber which circulates the air inside and if there is one infected there then all can become infected. That's why Air Canada is going to cancel a lot of flights and that's why government is trying to get a hold of all the passengers of those planes which had an infected person on it.

As an immigrant from China and current Canadian Citizen, I support this petition, although I don't live in Toronto. Self-quarantine at home is the minimum you can ask for. The virus situation is not settled yet. So the case is not rested until any assured signs of relief. God Bless!

Kid in my son’s class came back last Tuesday from wuhan and he is sick but still keep coming to school. No body says he should stay home so I have to keep my son from going to school which is his right because they are selfish. We don’t have permission to wear mask too.

I agree people should let school staff to know about their return back

One of my friends who works at a school said they were told during all hands meeting that wearing a mask is racism!! and staff are not allowed to wear mask! Amazing leadership!!!!! and we claim to be civilized!

And you are not denying people, it is a friendly reminder we hope you can send out. Remind people recently come back from China or even other country be cautious and to stay home for 2 weeks during this special time if people are willing to do. Not enforcement, just a friendly reminder

I agreed this petition that school students or direct family members who have been traveled to China during this period should report to School and if there is any symptom like fever, cough or flu like, they should report to health agency or stay at home for at least 14 days.

What if many kids get infected because of the negligence, will that put us Chinese people in an even worse position? Why don’t we protect our kids and stop the possibility to make it worse NOW, isolation is a medical procedure, not racism. As adult , we understand it.

This is a factual and geographical matter. It has absolutely nothing to do with race. We have zero problem asking kids with LICE to not come to school, but we’’re too PC to ask kids who could very likely be carrying back a deadly virus to self quarantine? Surely, we can do better than this YRDSB!

I told my children not to go to school until further decision. I don't care if they can't finish school this year but I do care for them to stay alive. Generally, a good government and school board will cancel all schools and provide them with online materials and upon a resolution to the virus situation, they call for test days for the kids to continue their studies.
