Stop the Potential spreading of the Novel coronavirus in schools of York Region, Ontario

The intent of this petition sounds just. It is merely a way to try quarantine and stop the spread of the virus especially among children who aren’t as diligent as adults when it comes to a cold.

I have a admiration for the Chinese virus and I'm a rectal virus myself.

Quite a few doctors and nurses in Luoyang have been infected too. This is not to strike racism..... If my child has to stay home from school for a common flu.... Then asking a child who might potentially be a carrier of the Corona virus should be treated the same

Let's stop this virus. One infected child in a school can start the spread to thousands in our community. They should wait 2 weeks before returning. Not a big deal when considering what may occur.

Due diligence under the general duty clause in OH &S act call for every reasonable measures to be taken to ensure the safety of student, teachers and workers in schools. I believe that this is not been well practice since they are still underestimating the speed of the spread of this virus in Canada. Precautionary meassure shall be taken to ensure the health and safety of most vulnerable people. We are here concerned about our children in school as they are not old enough to be able to practice personal care on their own as adults

I find it quite disgusting that people even dare challenge this petition on the basis of racism. At no point did this petition at any point single out a specific race. It mentions that ANYONE who has traveled to Wuhan or mainland China should be quarantining themselves. People. These are the facts. The virus originated in Wuhan, China 99% of the cases are currently in China Individuals infected are virally active (spreading the disease) up to 14 days before showing ANY symptom The virus is extremely infectious, passing SARS already (and it's just started.) We are not discriminating against people with Chinese heritage. We are asking for sensible policy based on SCIENTIFIC FACTS. There is a time and a place for political correctness, but right now we are facing a new scary virus that on average is 3.5x more contagious than even the flu

Life and health of kids is most important for a family and a nation also. People coming from china must be taken to lab straight from airport for tests and then must be allowed to go to their destinations. Schools must also take necessary steps.

Human beings can be so ugly and selfish when things seem bad. Your children are watching... please keep this in mind. Many have used the guise of ‘safety’ to strip the rights of others. I hope many of you can see what you are becoming.

If you are worried about your child getting sick, keep them at home. Really. And teach your children to wash their hands, and cough into their sleeves. If you really cared about your children, YOU would keep your own children home and take the sacrifices associated with that. Beyond that, take proper safety measures, and don’t allow your fear to rule you. Lots of uninformed parents, so sad to see that they are teaching their children these same fear reactions. Please use common sense and god judgement in these times! I can foresee many people become monsters when they work themselves into a fear frenzy.

Welp... Racism strikes again it seems :( For anyone here actually concerned about their children, do keep in mind that only 3 cases have appeared in Canada so far (Jan. 28). That's three out of literally hundreds of thousands of people that have travelled from China to Canada in the last month or so. Both Chinese and Canadian authorities have placed significant restrictions on those who have travelled around Wuhan, to say nothing of the number of health checks being conducted on travellers. But no, rather than heed good council from authorities, it's panic time! Let's let untrained parents tell their children to fear anyone from China, and start donning protective gear in the halls of schools like it's the apocalypse! Before everyone decides to lose their minds and start racially profiling students and parents, might I offer a suggestion? Unlike the Coronavirus, this year's flu has killed 8200 people in the United States, and similar numbers in Canada. If you really feel concerned about your child's safety from disease, get them vaccinated for the flu. You'll be protecting them from a much more dangerous illness, you'll be protecting those who are at greater danger from the flu right now, and no one will have to feel like a mean racist person months from now when this thing has been contained well far away from the York public school area

To all schools and the board: this is about our kids and our life matters. We all are immigrants and here is nothing but our life safety. NO RACIST point at all. We love and care about our kids. Kids are smarter these days and they can understand very well. You don't want to request who recently visited to the particular places home for a while instead of risking largest number of kids life in danger.
