There must be a more appropriate location for housing such as this. Please keep it away from these elementary schools! There will be too many opportunities for harmful acts to occur.

Please don't put this transitional housing half a block from my kid's school. Safety first!! Unsupervised residents with no services nearby is not a good solution to our homelessness.

I live close to the Bany/170th intersection. I live on 173rd and Cynhia. I am not in favor of a NO Supervised Transitional Housing Housing complex so close to single housing units whith many young children walking by to their school.. The corner of 170th and Bany is close enough to s
elementry Schools (2 schools) that there are assigned crossing monitors to help children to safely cross from major trafic flow. They would not have time or training to watch for children walking by the proposed transitional neighborhood. When the 170th road "improvements" were completed, many of us in the neighborhood thought the vacant property wopuld be developed into a neighborhood part where families could go for a picnic and play ground close to there home. The closest neighborhood play ground is more than a mile from our subdivison. The property is many miles from any medical or emergency services. We have had a very safe neighborhood and many young families are moving into the area because of its safety history and e want to keep it safe for everyone.

This is just the wrong place and not the proper type of care needed by the individuals they intend to house there. The nature in which Washington County went about doing this is very telling.

This is a very poor use of the site which is close to schools, a poor choice of provider with a history of violence at their housing sites and a very, very poor solution to caring for the mentally ill and homeless.

Of course homeless people and mentally ill people should be cared for, but it doesn't make sense to provide housing for them between two elementary schools. There has to be a better option.

I do not support the development of this parcel of land for the type of facility or level of care that Luke Dorf has proposed. People suffering mental illness crises and addiction disorders should not be placed unsupervised this close to very young children. The consequences are just too high. In addition, neighborhoods should be given proper notice and opportunity to voice their concerns. The amount of misinformation and inconsistencies reported in this transaction are prime example that this has not been thoroughly vetted and reviewed.

I'm not comfortable with this type of housing in such close proximity to two elementary schools where most of the students are within walking distance. Also think it needs to be built somewhere with closer access to transportation and mental health facilities.

Who in their right mind thinks that placing an unsupervised transitional housing complex deep within a residential neighborhood, literally within shouting distance of one elementary school and within eyesight of another, and on a direct walking path to multiple schools where hundreds of kids twice daily will walk directly by, is a good idea?! Not only is this a terrible location for such a place in regards to the safety of our children but also for the 'severely mentally disabled and chronically homeless' individuals that are being placed in a location without the needed resources closely accessible, unsupervised. They are essentially being setup for failure. If God forbid, something happens to my children or any of the children in this community as a result of this facility moving forward, the decision makers for this transitional housing placement will be held accountable as well.

I do appreciate the need for these types of facilities, but this is not a good location. Two elementary schools within line of sight in residential neighborhood... this is not the right property for this facility.

My reasons for signing this petition: Poor planning and communication by Washington County, inappropriate siting of this type of housing (should be closer to mental health resources, basic needs, etc. ) and appalling lack of necessary support services vital to the healthy & successful transition of the individuals in question.

This unsupervised housing protects neither its occupants or the neighborhood. It is quietly moving a problem into a place where it will not be solved, and will only create other issues. Elevated crime. Children who cannot play outside in their own yards. Etc.
Our representatives who approved this plan should be help accountable at the ballot box.
