This location has poor access to services for the severely mentally ill. They should be VERY CLOSE to the residents. And it has unknown risks to the kids who walk by to two different elementary schools. It is ridiculous to say that risks will be "no higher." Academic research is mixed on this topic, so WHY INTRODUCE INCREMENTAL RISK to our children? What is the compelling reason to say "this is an acceptable risk?"

If those empty suit bureaucrats who wish to ramrod a home for the mentally ill cared about the mentally ill reconnecting with society ... the first thing they'd do is give the mentally ill access to high frequency public transportation.
Just so you all know, this property exists on 170th & Bany, on the 88 bus line .... a line that only runs once every 30 minutes during the week, and once an hour during weekends / holidays. There is little for a mentally ill person to engage with in the area and other bus lines are over a 1 mile away, the closest grocery stores also over a mile away, the MAX line THREE MILES AWAY Mentally ill patients would be quite isolated. Where's the concern for the mentally ill, again?
So to all of you calling Cooper Mountain residents "hypocrites" for working hard, saving, and choosing their homes because of neighborhood desirability for their families, and think it's "just about property values":
Look in a mirror, VOLUNTEER AND INSURE the mentally unstable reside next door to you because you are so virtuous.
While you're at it: you might inquire how often the following people have VOLUNTEERED AND INSURED the mentally unstable live next door to them, because they are so virtuous:
Robert E. Connell, Luke-Dorf Chairman
Debi Mollahan, Tigard Area Chamber of Commerce (Tigard?) find a spot in Tigard then !!!

The citizens in the neighborhood are in an uproar. This should not be ignored. The county and the city are supposed to be partnering to enhance our lives. Please dont ignore this outcry from the surrounding community.
