There was no consultation with parents. Husband just happened onto it as we have a Year 8 when he was looking at the Year 9 options book. Stocksbridge High School responded that they don't have to tell us of when they make curriculum changes.

My year 8 will be taking 9 or 10 GCSEs when the time comes. If the school refuses to accommodate that, we will move schools.

I agree with this issue raised here, the school should be enabling and supporting those students who wish to take more GCSEs, I certainly do not agree with limiting those with aspirations to do more. Equally those who take decisions and do not wish to under more, should be respected also

It is unfair to offer only 2 optional GCSEs to children. Children who go in further education normally study THREE or FOUR A-level subjects, if the child doesn't have the option to study these subjects at GCSE they won't be allowed to study them at A-level.
Totally unacceptable!
