We have been returning to this part of the coast for 20 years and this development would be a permanent blot on the landscape and both our country walks and wonderful views

One of the glories of Cornwall, that drives the attraction for tourists, is the unspoilt coastline that has been unchanged for thousands of years. This is one of the most beautiful views in the county. Please do not spoil it. As well as looking unsightly it could raise concerns in people's minds about the cleaniliness of the water for swimming/surfing.

One only needs to look at section 13. on the planning application under the heading Biodiversity and Geological Conservation. Points a) b) & c) are all marked yes.
These alone are a strong reasons for planning refusal.

It would be a tragedy to spoil the glorious view of Stepper Point which is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The building would be visible from New Polzeath to Rock, an area much loved by locals and visitors alike. This may be the site of an old quarry, but it has been redundant for decades and calling it a brownfield site and allowing development could open the floodgates to develop any of the hundreds of old industrial sites that litter the whole of the Cornish coastline. These are the remains of mining and quarrying and have been incorporated into the majesty of the coast. Imagine all these with modern buildings! This must not be allowed to happen. Please also comment on the Cornwall Council Planning website. This is URGENT. The deadline is tomorrow.

The unspoiled natural beauty of this area is key to its popularity with tourists and hence to the local economy. Industrialisation of this site would be seriously detrimental, damaging local tourist industries. It is also likely to be damaging to wildlife.

It's a beautiful accessible point off Padstow. Where nature naturally takes refuge and flourishes. No part of the coastline and wetlands should be built on even in the name of lobster hatchery or similar.

Unless there is some unique environment or geographical reason for this location for the hatchery it is unacceptable to destroy this headland of outstanding beauty and nautical land mark for the port of Padstow

This will destroy the unique atmosphere of the headland - please locate this hatchery in an alternative position. Holiday trade will be reduced in the area if this goes ahead.

Our objection on the CCC website: Whilst we support the work of the National Lobster Hatchery we strongly object to the proposal at Stepper Point. This is an important landmark for the Estuary. This area has 6 important designations including AONB and SSSI. I have had the privilege to have spent much time here over the last 40 years and feel that this proposal will definitely be detrimental to this stunning area. The application is lacking in important details. The access road will cross the heritage coast path into the path down into the quarry. This entrance to the quarry was never intended for motor vehicles and it is likely that it will need to be widened to make it safe, resulting in the removal of vegetation from the hillside and major excavations which will be clearly visible from the estuary. It is stated that mains water and electricity will be required - further major works across the land to the quarry. Stepper Point has always been subject to Atlantic weather conditions - high winds, big swell and stormy seas all cause sea water to flood the quarry. Is the proposal allowing for this? How is sewage/foul water to be dealt with? A septic tank will need lorry access, reed beds may well suffer from the regular ingress of sea water. Will sewage/foul water end up being discharged into the estuary? Will the PV cells withstand regular rockfalls from the unstable quarry face, in addition to the seawater ingress? Will the inlet and outlet pipes for seawater to and from the hatchery tanks be a visible eyesore or even able to withstand the conditions? We urge Cornwall County Council to reject this proposal as totally unsuitable for this site and hope that it can find a more appropriate site which could deliver greater commercial and educational benefits.

Must be a better alternative - please do not destroy this unique headland and its unspoilt beauty. Have walked this area for many years and this proposal would destroy the landsacape. Build the hatchery somewhere else not on stepper point.
