I have been reading through the comments and I am truly humbled by how many people feel as strongly about this as I do. It is clear that the standard of conduct we expect from our local representatives is something people care about deeply.

It is not acceptable to have a man sacked for gross misconduct by one council representing another council. We deserve better than this. The fact that he denies the judge's decision is a disgrace.
he should resign as he's clearly be sacked by another council for gross misconduct. The lies he has told at the council meetings puts him in a very bad light. Best resign before he's pushed out.
Stephen Ackers -Belcher IMO you have brought the roll of Councillor into disrepute! You have shown you have no integrity or moral compass! Furthermore,you are NOT FIT to wear the chain of office around your neck Ceremonial Mayor! You have brought nothing but shame to our Once Proud Town of Hartlepool!
He should have had the decency to resign over his postion as a Trustee of the Scandal hit MRA, but this latest incident shows just how lacking in Integrity this councillor is... he should resign his position as a councillor & Ceremonial Mayor immediately.
We NEED rid of this complete embarrassment to the town. Not only has he constantly ripped us off to line his and his husband's pockets but he is also one of the few directly responsible for dooming our health and social services. The fact he got fired for gross misconduct from a position of trust says it all but is just the icing on the cake...
What says yes??

Belcher has not given a thought as to how much money all these investigations have cost Newcastle B.C. This same contempt has been shown to H.B.C. too; and in times of austerity.
