This will only further cripple the trading community.

Wow If this is true, you will be pissing off so many of your customers. You will be drawing away so many users from trading and from your games as a whole. Plus I could see this crashing all your games economies and the economies for other companies games that use steam for trading. So you would be pissing off other game companies. No one wins.
Well, From the recent event in the news, a concept that has been brought up has been; terrorists win if they change our routines to feel safe. I am going to apply this to scammers, your letting the scammers win.

I have enough trouble trading as-is. I get that scammers are a problem, but this seems to place an unnecessary burden on the players.

There's not much to say, this feature will destroy trading, but add security. In my opinion, it's not worth it. Yes, Valve is trying to stop those traders that want to steal their customers' items, but I don't think this is the right way to go about such a thing.

Why this has been considered is beyond me. Even though I've recently gotten an iPhone, I hate companies that just assume everyone has a phone.

This is clearly intended to increase Valve profits but not only cutting support costs, but driving trades to the Steam Market so Valve can get a cut of each transaction.
I am selling off my $2k+ backpack and am done. This is the last straw.

I don't think its fair for those who either don't have support for the app on their phone or if they don't have a phone.
Valve, no. No. No. No. No. NO. NOOOOOOOOO.
Valves best idea since paid mods
