Some people do not own a smartphone and to make trading require the usage of one is preposterous. When the email verification got added, most people were outraged, but we grew accustomed to it as it's a great thing. However, Escrow is going to kill trading and make it much more of a hassle than it has to be. If a partner gets a bad deal in a trade, then that is their fault for accepting the email in the first place without thinking. Escrow will also ruin online trading sites like scrap.tf, tf2r.com, and sweetstakes.tf just to name a few.

This "system" is just a large crash, valve knew the effects of it and still went through with it.... Maybe valve is just trying to get rid of the trading system?
