I love the statement. However, I would add that both parents and children are the clients of the education system.

There should be an end to the federal board of education and state's ties to federal money being dangled in front of them like a trainer giving a monkey treats for tricks.

We parents, are sick and tired of the government forcing themselves on us and our children's education. We no longer have any faith that our government has its citizens in its best interest. By staying out of the education system, our children will be better educated. Government has no place in how our children are taught or what curriculum is being given. Your department of education is a laughing joke. Stop trying to indoctrinate our children!! You are waking a sleeping giant.

Our children are created in the image of their parents not the State. They deserved to be EDUCATED not trained and indoctrinated. We have done a good job in the past 150+ years. The past 40 years have been a slippery slide, the past 8 abominable. Key thought: when families fail, schools fail.

I am both a parent of six children and a teacher. I see every single day how our current system is destroying our children and our society. We must go back to teaching content and allowing children to explore different pathways as they get older. They are not little cookie cutter robots that must all learn exactly the same thing.

Our teachers are no longer allowed to teach our children how to read, write and do arithmetic. They now teach our kids how to take tests and who cares if the kids learn anything beyond the process of the test. They are also being forced to teach our kids using methods NEVER even peer reviewed as to their effectiveness; much less time tested to ensure they work better than the methods taught for hundreds of years. It is time for the Federal Government to relinquish control of the funding and allow local school boards and school teachers to determine how the money will be spent and how and what our children will learn.
