Keep up the fight Peg. America's children need a champion, and you are that champion.

As a taxpayer, teacher, mother, and aunt I say stop the war on the children of America. If a politician says they work for children ask them how will the child benefit by your work and ask them to show results. Those politicians who push standards based education should be voted out of office. The program will NEVER work. Every child can learn. Every child learns differently.

37 years as a teacher in high school and middle school. Common Core needs to go and the Federal Government's role in education is ridiculous. Keep it local.

The public education system is why I send my son to a private Christian School, which, will not bow to the ludicrous things going on in public schools!

Our children are the consumers and future providers of the education system, how dare the government force control of their views on my child.

I am a parent of a child who is a victim of federal interference; and of state compliance regarding same; and finally, of local blind conformity.

Simple is always best. This doesn't have to be complicated. My local taxes pay into my local education agency. As a tax payer and a parent with standing my INPUT is the leading determining factor in this equation---everyone else is secondary and that is the way it should always be. School choice is another component and school vouchers another component. If people are truly about the education of our nations children then all other agendas need to take a back seat and our tax dollars need to stop being viewed as a never ending supply of wealth for these corporate, bureaucratic juggernauts!

These 5 principles outlined by Peg Luksik are the cornerstones of a strong and successful education system. Local Control of education is essential for public education to provide the very best opportunities for our children.

The federal government should not be involved in the education of our children. Any money that comes from the federal government ALWAYS comes with strings attached. We must get the government out of education and end the federal department of education. Control should be at the local level.
