Statement of Support for Dr. Pritchard

Dr. Pritchard and I have jointly led several Poole College of Management teams of students to apply data analytics to build a transactive energy pricing model. We also have jointly supported the SolarPack project. These experiences help me observe that Dr. Pritchard is an excellent mentor for a cross-functional team of students. • He supported me in designing course activities that allow for sharing of knowledge, expertise, and perspective synergistically to create new applications to integrate emerging innovative technologies. • Dr. Pritchard desires to direct students to develop hands-on, real-world experience in exploring advanced technologies to improve transportation energy efficiency, affordability, reliability, security, and customer satisfaction. • Dr. Pritchard support and design outreach programs to reach out to diversified groups of students, including those in high school, to the real world applications of the STEM disciplines as their future careers. He proactively recruits and mentors them to participate in his research projects including the SolarPack project. Dr. Pritchard is a consistent, tireless, enthusiastic advocate for diversity in engineering.

I believe Dr. Pritchard is an amazing instructor and he helped this team a great deal. Without him this team would not exist.

He’s helped this team a lot and we wouldn’t be anywhere close to where we’re at now without him.

Dr. Pritchard has been a wonderful adviser for SolarPack. His wealth of knowledge and experience has been extremely helpful in developing and soundboarding ideas for our Solar Car. His office is open for students to come visit him for help, and he is welcoming. Not only does he give his opinion of ideas, but he also does a great job of suggesting possible solutions, without brushing aside the work that the student has already done.

When a University has a professor like Dr. Pritchard that is dedicated to his profession, passionate teaching, guiding and instructing Mech.Eng. students, it needs to keep that professor gainfully employed until he retires. NCSU, you need more professors like Dr. Pritchard "keep him". I was privledged to meet Dr. Pritchard while visiting campus for presentations and exibits of the Solar Car with my grandson, the Solar Pack Team Leader.

Dr. Pritchard is a great advisor and one of the few professors who brings out the best in you. He is dedicated in helping students and is always there for you. I hope to continue working with him in the future.

Dr. Pritchard is an integral part of SolarPack. He makes time for every student and makes a tremendous effort to get to know them each individually. He is always there to provide guidance and has helped me realize my own strengths as well as helped me improve on my weaknesses as he has done for many other students. Dr. Pritchard steps in when guidance is needed, but I am even more thankful for how well he challenges us and truly pushes us to be creative, collaborative, and confident in our abilities. SolarPack would not be anywhere near where we are without Dr. Pritchard. My successes and our team's successes are credited to Dr. Pritchard's valued involvement and unique ability to challenge us and bring out our merits. I would be terribly disappointed in our department for failing to see Dr. Pritchard's value and impact on SolarPack, the students, and our school.

Dr. Pritchard was one of the top 2 professors of which I thought were the best in my entire time in the MAE Department (Mechanical Engineering) over my course of the degree from 2014-2018. He cares about the students, has meaningful work, and actually interested in the topic/students reception. I learned a great deal in my automotive tech. elective class (MAE 495 Model based Design course). He has a passion for the automotive field and has the relevant experience to back it up. I wish he were there to teach classes earlier in my years at state. I hope that he is able to keep his tenor at NC State Mech. Dept. to grow the presence of automotive focused classes. I know that I will use exactly what I learned in the class directly in my automotive workplace (mech. Engineering related jobs) immediately since I've just graduated. He is a major asset to the MAE department and the University in general. Not only is he a great professor, he cares about the student's success. He is extremely involved with student programs like Wolfpack Solar, aside from all the projects he oversaw at the FREEDM center. He also is the only reason I was able to attain an internship at FORD MOTOR COMPANY, which in turn helped me get my dream job @ TESLA. This is all because of his contacts and projects. Please consider Dr. Pritchard for all he has done and will continue to do at NCSU Mech. Eng. Dept.

Dr. Pritchard was one of the best professors I've had during my time at NC State. I learned a tremendous amount of material in his automotive class. His passion for the material and care for his students made his class a unique experience; I've never been pushed so hard during a class yet more willing to achieve what is demanded.

Dr. Pritchard is an asset to the university, and it would be a terrible loss to let him go. He has done great work at FREEDM as well as with CREDENCE and SolarPack.

Dr. Pritchard was an amazing support and mentor at the FREEDM center. He has a great sense of humor and he's very personable. I worked with him for a little bit regarding battery installation strategies and he was very humble to listen to my opinion even though I didn't have much expertise in the area. He's an asset to the university and NC State should not let him go. Thank you!

Dr. Pritchard has had a tremendous impact at NC State, and the FREEDM Center. He has been involved in multiple projects, like CREEDENCE and the Solar Car, and taught multiple courses in the area of automotive technology. Dr. Pritchard will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

I think Dr. Pritchard is exactly the type of faculty that NC State needs. He is passionate about renewable energy, passionate about teaching the next generation of leaders, and passionate about making NC State better. He never shies away from doing what he thinks is best even though it requires more effort. He does the right thing even when it’s the hard thing. He is far from perfect but I think the University made a mistake by letting him go. Bring Ewan Back!

He is a good professor. Unlike many others, he trains his students in skills that will actually be useful in the real world. And he is a pretty cool guy!

I have been worked closely with Dr. Pritchard for last 1 year. He was my instructor for an independent study that I registered under him in Spring 2018. Apart from this I have seen him working in the capacity of Associate Director at the NSF FREEDM Center. He is a passionate and a hard working individual with immense knowledge in his field of expertise and has wealth of experience. Apart from that he is an amazing person and a dear friend on whom one could count on and he would be always be there for you. Letting him go away will be loss for the North Carolina State University!!

I have had the distinct privilege of working with Dr. Ewan Pritchard for 4 consecutive years. Starting in the senior year of my Undergraduate Degree at NC State University he has been a key role model in my education. I worked with him in 2014-2015 building my first electric vehicle as my BS-EE Senior Design Project. During that time he guided my time through one of the most challenging projects offered during that course and we came out successful at the other end. The entire team matured and grew throughout the process. Furthermore, he coordinated internships at Ford Motor Company for 2 of us following the project, one of those internships leading towards a full time hire of one of my team mates. I was also offered a full time position but chose to return to NC State to pursue a Masters of Science in Electric Power Systems Engineering, in great part due to Dr. Pritchard's recommendations and career guidance. Throughout my Master's of Science we worked on numerous projects together including an International Research Collaboration Startup, that was successfully funded by the National Science Foundation and spearheaded by Dr. Pritchard called CREDENCE and a Industry Sponsored project for Distributed energy called a Modular Energy Generator. These unique opportunities spurred my further interest into advanced research where I decided to pursue my Ph.D. where I am currently in my 3rd year. Dr. Ewan Pritchard has played a key role not only in my life, but in the lives of countless more as he and I have sponsored research teams of undergraduates, taught together, and worked with many young minds in guiding them towards their true potential. Dr. Pritchard is a valuable asset to any project or institution, and I hope to continue to work with him into the future.

In my conversations with Dr. Pritchard, specially about the SolarPack work and the work being done at FREEDM, I could tell that he was both passionate and dedicated to both. I also appreciate the mentoring he has done with my son, Bryon. It has helped shaped Bryon's vision for his future career.

Dr. Pritchard is an extremely kind man who has helped to mentor aspiring students and sponsor impactful student projects and he will be a great loss to Bush's engineering department and its students
