I'm against any change that would take power away from a duly elected governing body and place it in the hands of a priviledged few. Academic freedom, ethical purity, and democratic process are the cornerstones of any service organization.

I understand the need for a more nimble association with less burdensome use of scholars' time in LA, but it seems from the petition and discussion that this revision curtails too many of our democratic procedures. Couldn't a better revision at least give simple majority override by the LA of any executive and administrative decisions? Sorry I am not informed about the specific changes. Until I know more or feel the democratic process if vouchsafed, I stand opposed to the changes.
