The brush should be cleared a minimum of 200 feet from any nearby home. (I'm not sure that 1,000 feet is necessary, but at least 200 feet should be brush cleared near any home).

I hike in the our mountains every day and I know how bad the build up of dead plant material is. I believe it is smarter and cheaper to clear it than to fight fires and rebuild homes.

It is a matter of “when” not if a fire is going to take many homes and lives here in Los Angeles County with the present unkept park lands the interface neighborhoods. The extended drought has caused beetle infestations, dead and dying trees and well as extremely dry and dead underbrush. If this is not attended to the destruction is on you as a representative and Los Angeles. Conditions have changed and we need to respond to very unsafe conditions.

We as California natives pay all these taxes and nothing gets done to prevent fires. This is a prime example of the mismanaged tax dollars we are paying! It is the state of California responsibility to clean and maintain trees and brushes. We as home owners in this community are responsible to clean and maintain all brushes and trees on our own properties, the people running California should do their part!

It is time not only homeowners take responsibility but the state needs to do so. The state needs to clear more and more often as they used to years ago. The forestry service needs to be allowed to dead wood the forests as they used too. There are too many people living in forested areas more that years past. Clearance is a must.

It should be noted that we live near the top of hill near the end of Corbin. If you go to the other side of the fence in peoples back yard, you will notice a wall of dry uncut shrubs, weeds and trees that is stored fuel. Even if we keep it clear 200' away, the fire will be large enough that it will reach the houses on the street. In the past, the State arranged for clearing but it appears the workers pushed the waste material further into the hillside instead of removing it. This is not the proper way to stop fire. The fuel needs to be removed not just pushed into the hillside.

Thank you for starting the petition. Everytime I look down from my backyard and across Corbin Canyon and up to the Mountains, I realize that it is only time when there will be a serious fire. I clear my hillside but many neighbors still have pine trees on their slopes. There is so much dry growth in the canyon that should be cleared. Please keep me informed.
