This is my son 1st year in high school, and he has to get up at 5am every morning to catch the 6:30am bus. He still hasnt adjust to this time causing him to be late 12 times with a punishment of in school suspension. I dont think its fair or right. Im single mom who gets home late at night from work after 12am. So sometimes its impossible for me to wake him up

My son gets up at 5:15 in order to catch a 6:25. Thats waayyy too early especially when he's played a sport the night before.

It makes sense. More rested young teens will do better in school.

I'm not sure what else there is to 'think about'. Scientific research and testing result facts have provided evidence that our children's health suffers and so do those important test scores. THIS should be a top priority!

I am often passing our neighborhood stop around the time the bus arrives. I'm amazed none of the students have been hit by cars in the darkness. This is a health and safety issue.

High school start times are WAY TOO EARLY for kids! The results of the studies noted speak for themselves.

We recently moved to VA from FL. In FL my high schooler started school about 9 a.m. It was great for him and our family. I highly support this change.

This is for the health of our children in a critical growing time of their lives! The priotity should be on what is best to give our kids the best foundation for learning rather than what is easier for parents and the county

As a third grade teacher in the county, I am thrilled about this petition. My little guys start at 9:30-most have been up and at 'em for hours-and the buses pull away at 4 in the afternoon. They are all wiped out by 3 and it's like pulling teeth to get them to try to learn something that late. I'm so tired of hearing the "it's inconvenient for me" excuses. Do what is right CCPS!

Young children tend to naturally be early risers & fall asleep earlier at night. Teens tend to not be sleepy until later in the evening & their natural arousal time is a bit later in the morning. This is a change that occurs during puberty. They need to start school later!
