Columbia/Barnard Hillel has always
participated in a variety of meaningful interfaith and intercultural programs,
including service hops, dinners centered on discussions of faith and practice,
panel sessions, text studies, and other modes of exploring what it means to be
a member of a religious community or a cultural minority on campus. In order to
foster ties with other religious and cultural groups at Columbia/Barnard, the formation
of a new Interfaith/Intercultural Committee at Hillel will further cultivate
this tradition by holding regular meetings open to all, with the objective of
implementing programs and interfaith meetings throughout each semester. Committee
members will help propose ideas, coordinate programming, and reach out to other
campus groups to plan events.
Ultimately, the goal of the
Interfaith/Intercultural Committee is to utilize the unique opportunity afforded
by a diverse college campus to come together and engage in discussions of
religious and ethnic identity in the modern world. We thank you in advance for
your support of this important initiative.
This is exactly what we need on campus right now. So glad to see this starting up!
