The Pedestrian Crossing outside The Sideline Bar and Blue Tiki Hair Salon in Stanmore Rd is very dangerous and drivers are too concerned about getting through the green light at North Avon Rd and won't look for pedestrians. There are a number of elderly and disabled folk around here who walk slower than younger folk and we want people to be safe. I have seen a number of near deaths and accidents here, so have the local business owners, so lets make a difference. Lets get this area safe by either raising the pedestrian crossing with a speed bump or place lights at Stanmore/Avalon St corner. It would also be great to reduce the speed around this area on Stanmore Rd to 30 km hr as it is a very busy area with alot of traffic and businesses. Please sign this Petition to get this through the council and make a difference for our community and safer for our family/whanau.

My elderly mother lives on Avalon St and has difficulty getting across the road to the shops on the other side, a crossing would be such a relief knowing there is some where safe for her to cross

I have a baby and a toddler and often have close calls at this crossing. Not so long ago I was right on the edge waiting and had to wait for 16 cars before the 17th finally stopped to let me cross! It’s so dangerous!

I always step out first before I take the plunge onto this crossing.

With more cars, ignorant drivers on the road these days, this pedestrian crossing is now even more dangerous that ever.
