In February the Stanfield Planning and Zoning board proposed a change in the zoning rules that deal with parking in the Town of Stanfield and the ETJ. This proposal is set for a public hearing and a vote by the Town Council on April 5th.
For several months the zoning board has been trying to put a specific property into violation because they didn’t like the buses and semis that are parked there. All of those vehicles are there legally and are not breaking any laws. Since no ordinances are on the books that are being violated, and after 6 months of trying, they sent an amendment to Town Council designed to put the specific landowner into violation with their goal to have the property owner remove the things that they didn’t like. This is just a part of ordinance 4-22. The ordinance will also seek to control things you own on your own property and will include things like boats on trailers, cargo or utility trailers, campers, and motor homes to name a few. In their March meeting they have added to their proposed change to now say that you can only have TWO such vehicles on YOUR OWN PROPERTY. The Town of Stanfield is not and should not be a HOME OWNERS ASSOCIATION ! If you don’t want the Town telling you what you can and can not own sign the petition to oppose the changed to 4-22. It is also telling you how you need to park the things you own, where you can put them, and even having a zoning administrator give you written permission if you don’t do things their way.
These are two important reasons that everyone should sign this petition to oppose the amendment to 4-22.
1- THE TOWN OF STANFIELD SHOULD NOT BE TRYING TO PASS ANY LAWS THAT ARE TARGETED AT A SPECIFIC PROPERTY. Remember you could be next.
2- THE TOWN OF STANFIELD HAS NO RIGHT TO TELL YOU OR ANYONE ELSE WHAT YOU CAN OR CAN NOT OWN.
OPPOSE 4-22 by signing the petition that will tell the Town Council this is UNACCEPTABLE!
Creating new laws based on personal preference meant only to target one person, one property is unjust. I propose you go back create something good that serves the community, not yourselves.

Hey y'all, just think of his yard as a museum, a vintage bus museum! And leave him alone!

Shame on you Stanfield NC. As a small town, you should be working harder to ensure that your residents feel safe. Judging and restricting residents from storing items on their property is not what freedom and liberty are all about.

I ask the town council to consider this perspective: these Scenicruiser coaches are a significant piece of American history and the whole town could work together to preserve these iconic pieces of our country's transportation history.

As a North Carolina resident having previously lived in the Haw River ETJ I have seen the grandfathering process in action. Let the man keep his buses.

Grandfather in what is on properties now and let them keep what is theirs on their property. Does someone on the city council own a storage lot? This happens in a town I knew of and everyone with boats campers, bues, trucks etc. had to put their stuff in the storage lot...that the city council member owned. Of course they would pass such an ordinance!
