Standing up for Dr. Nadeem Omar Tarar

I Nadeem is an old university class fellow and a friend, he is a thorough gentleman and a principled person who enjoyed everybody’s great respect.

I know Dr Tarar since the last 25 years and i can vouch on Oath that he is man of great integrity. His early retirement on a flimsy pretext was carried out to deter pro- People intellectuals from raising their voice against corruption prevalent in their institution.

There are no allegations against Dr. Omer, just authoritative steps of a process that has never brought any allegations scrutiny.

To whom it may concern, I am shocked to hear about the allegations against Dr Nadeem Omar Tarar. I met Dr Nadeem Omar Tarar whilst teaching Visual Anthropology in the film department at NCA Lahore between 2005-2006. As a Western woman in Pakistan, I got used to being cautious around men. I never ever though had the feeling to have to be cautious around Dr Nadeem Omar Tarar. He treated me as a fellow human being, had interest in my intellectual considerations and I always felt secure and utterly respected in his company. In all the time I've known him he was very committed to his wife and family. Therefore this allegations strike me as absurd and politically motivated. I hardly ever met such a true academic in Pakistan. With a fast pool of knowledge that is based on intellectual merit and hard work. I do feel that it would be a great loss to academia in Pakistan to condemn a men of such fine character. Not to think about his social involvements, making sure in true anthropological fashion that people without a voice are being heard. I do appeal to whoever reads this and has any kind of influence, to give this case some rational thought. Wishing you all the best Nadeem! It’s almost 20 years that I’m known to Nadeem Omar. I have closely observed him in his public and private lives. His integrity as a person, particularly, as a teacher, has always been beyond any shadow of doubt. I can, and I do, entrust education of my own daughter to this great teacher, besides that of all my loved ones. It’s utterly shameful that Nadeem is being targeted for ulterior motives. I fervently condemn all allegations against this true academician and one of the best sons of the soil, who cannot be disliked by anyone except the crooked opponents who are jealous of his capacities of studying, researching and teaching in utterly matchless ways. I have known Nadeem sb for over twenty years. My wife has been his student. A whole generation of artists has studied with him. This charge is utterly absurd and incredulous. I emphatically support this petition.
