Bowfishing is wasteful unless fish are being eaten.

Gar are beautiful fish. And I love fishing for them. But I have seen a shortage on these beautiful fish

We definitely need to protect these fish from overharvest and wasteful destruction.

Bow fishing is such a cruel way to take down these fish, they have no chance of survival when getting hit by an arrow.

I have fished Texas for these great fish. I for one would like to see these fish protected. I spend money to catch these fish in your state and enjoy doing so very much!

Viewing wildlife, including gar, are one of the few reasons I spend much time in Texas. There's plenty to sustainably hunt there without killing gar. Gar should be catch and release only, or just treat them like we do manatee. There are whole economies based on just looking at big animals floating in the water. Imagine the outside money that would flow into a Texas town with the world's densest population of Alligator Gar.

I used to Commercial fish these Prehistoric Beast so I learned a lot about their habits and the best way to catch them. I challenge anyone who thinks that this Law is Unnecessary because you think there’s tons of them and ones will replace all the ones you kept that day. My point is they are easily In the top 3 SLOWEST growing Fish in the World

Bow hunting of giant, 80+ year old gar needs to stop. It is just killing for the fun of it. Rarely anyone eats them and they are just killed for sport. They are Texas’s largest fish and have been here much longer than we have. Make the change.

If this resource is not protected, it will be destroyed, plain and simple. Regrowing this resource could be impossible, or at best take decades.

I’m an avid fisherman and bow fisherman but these fish need to be protected. There’s plenty other fish for bow fishing that don’t live 100 years go shoot them.

I grew up on Oyster Creek in Lake Jackson. We saw many gar over 5 feet. It would be terrible to destroy this wonderful creature. Stop the taking of gar over 4 feet. Support TPWD rule changes.

I know of no angler who doesn't have catching and releasing one these giants on their bucketlist. Much like the great lakes states have protected the last stronghold of another ancient ambassador, (the Lake Sturgeon) The gulf states can protect the Alligator Gar. We're losing more than a fish. These guys are a big part of what makes Texas, Texas.
