I work at a liquor store and love my job but I fear that if this bill does not pass, the grocery store next to us will put me out of work

I'm a small liquor store owner and support this bill

As a liquor store owner I have several concerns and complaints about this bill passing. The first thing that came to mind is how on Earth are the grocery stores going to monitor the sales of liquor to minors! Liquor stores are under strict guidelines . With alcohol being in the grocery stores and young people going through, you cannot convince me that a grocery store will keep alcohol away from minors. Again as a business owner this is very important to me to be responsible. Also my other thought is grocery stores and Superstores are making enough money selling what they are there for .Why do they need or have the right to infringe on liquor store businesses in selling what they are there to sell? We don't sell groceries we don't sell produce we don't sell household items we are specifically there to sell wine beer and spirits! This is not even getting started on how it is going to negatively affect our economy. Jobs losses from liquor reps, to distributors, and a lot of these craft beer breweries are barely keeping up with production for liquor store orders. This does not necessarily mean growth for them. Please Governor, do not pass this bill. Please think of the small business owners that have put everything they have , heart, soul, money, countless hours, tears, stress.....into their small , locally owned and operated business. Just to have it absolutely destroyed by the greed larger, out of state big box retailers! As a person who voted for you , I am confident that you will make the best choice for our state and your constituents, and defeat this ridiculous and unfair law from passing. Angela Hauer

Please sign the bill. It took me 10years of hard work to build my liquor store business. Would hate to see it all be lost to mega corporations. My employees are also very concerned about their jobs!

This compromise gives my small business time to evolve so I can be more competitive when grocery does acquire unlimited stores. The best part of the bill is even when 20 years pass, the grocery stores will not be able to buy as a chain. This means I can be as competitive, if not more competitive than them. I feel that if this doesn’t pass, the grocery stores won’t stop trying and will eventually get everything. I would also guess, if it didn’t happen this year, it would be in the near future. Please sign the bill.

As you indicated; I would prefer no change at all. But, I am concerned if we pass on this "compromise" that the general public (specifically with all the new residents moving into the state) will pass the grocery ballot initiative with no thought of the ramifications of the overnight mass change. We, small liquor stores, offer superior safety practices, superior selection, local community reach, customer service, and employment. Please sign in support of a compromise.
