Tenor went out with Governor Scott's signature for teachers unless the teacher has a specific clause to being :grandfathered" in. If the "crime" was so substantial to fire Mr. Brazel I would think our school board members would have protected the community with a call to the police and an arrest would have taken place. This sounds more to me like a "power trip". The upper hand-being the school board insinuating and applying their ability to manipulate the "under thumb" work force-being the teacher.

I don’t know this teacher, but speaking from experience and reading through the comments it seems to me that everyone here is commenting on behalf of this teacher. However, the whole scenario doesn’t sit right with me. This petition was started by a former student who claims that a disgruntled student got Mr. Brasell (a seasoned; well experienced) teacher fired. How is that possible? A teacher that has tenure (20+ years) doesn’t just go to work one day and find out that they have been dismissed or terminated because a student was unhappy or unsatisfied with their grades.
There’s a chain of command and a series of steps that need to be followed. That means that he cannot be dismissed without proof and written/verbal warnings (grievances) unless a crime has been committed. It simply does not happen like that folks. Imagine, it if you will, you have a teacher that you are completely happy with, you go to the principal make a complaint and bam that teacher is dismissed solely on your opinion. The same thing if you go to a store or restaurant, just because you have an ill opinion of someone or their actions they will not be fired unless they have done something beyond being just rude or not in agreement with you.
The only person who knows exactly was has been done is Mr. Brasell himself. I am not calling him guilty, I am simply stating the facts. A teacher with a history like his, former teacher of the year, and good evaluations and tons of respect from former students wouldn’t be terminated over a disgruntled student unless there’s more to the story than we are all aware of. Feel free to delete this comment if you so wish, but the fact is, there are two sides to this story and before you either stand with Mr. Brasell or you don’t have all you need to be absolutely sure you can be on his side do your research and look at the whole big picture.

Literally one of only a handful of people who I truly respect. Brazell isn't someone I know very well, but I've never heard a bad word spoken against him, and I've born witness to him performing acts of caring and consideration that no other teacher would even consider. To even think of terminating him or his pension over some whiny, grubbling slacker is a disgrace to this school and a sign of just how we need to stand up for this amazing guy that so many care for. Let's show everyone we care about him just as much as he cares about us.

I have only met Mr. Brazell twice but Many of his students tell me what a awesome and fair teacher he is. He knows what he is doing and he is always there for his students when they need someone. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is ok and well.

Mr. Brazell Was/Is The Only Teacher Who Has Helped Me. He's Given Me Advice When I Felt I Had No One Else To Go To, He Has Given Me Second Chances And Finally Helped Me Find Something That Interests Me, He Gives Students Fair Grades. He Gives Students The Grades They Deserve. If They Do Little To No Work, They Get A Bad Grade. If One Person In A Group Does All Of The Wrk They Get A Good Grade And The Others Get A Lower Grade Because They Did Nothing. If Everyone In A Group Does Work, They All Get The Same Grade. He's Never Given A Student An Unfair Grade.

I only met Mr. Brazell one time, but my brother who was in his class for years knows him very well. I know that he is a very kind and generous man. I know he cares about students. I also know he made my brother who he is today. This is an obvious mistake.

My son had Mr. Brazzel for all four years of high school. The man is nothing less than an exemplary human being that cares about his students. He treated my son with respect and every interaction I had with him was respectful. The fact that one student can make accusations and possibly destroy a man's life is total crap. Flagler school system, how about standing behind a teacher that has devoted his life to teaching and mentoring kids rather than caving in to a lazy student!!!

My son had Mr Brazzel all throughout high school. This same son whom I could never get to wake up on time in the am, would set his own alarm to get up early because he had to get to TV production class with Mr Brazzel. He also went in on Saturdays to help out when needed and paint the TV production room. This is unjust that Mr Brazzel is under such a false attack and I WILL be writing the school and the school board!

Hard to understand why one person would choose to wipe out a man's reputation and his livelyhood. Very sad. It's going good to see his friends and students, both past and present, standing with him!

I've known Mr. Brazell for seven years. Even on my first day of high school, I could tell that he was not like other teachers who were simply going through the motions of teaching to the standards and handing out grades. I could tell that he actually cared about students' understanding and whether they got something practical out of the course.
Beyond his role as an educator, he also personally spent thousands of hours' worth of his own time producing videos for the school and the community, recording and archiving events, and overall putting in a lot more effort than his job description required. It wasn't unusual for Mr. Brazell to be working long after everyone else in the school had gone home. He did the work of several people and got little praise for what he did.
Mr. Brazell has been making a positive impact both in the lives of students as well as the community as a whole for twenty-one years. He does not deserve to lose his job -- a job to which he has committed a large part of his life. Mr. Brazell deserves nothing less than full reinstatement and an award for his altruistic contributions to Flagler county as a whole.

My name is Kirill Y Mikerin, SGT, United States Army. Many of you know me or of me. And the key individual that we have in common is Mr. Carl Brazell. Mr. Brazell is a 21 year teacher veteran. He teaches TV Production in Flagler Palm Coast High School. Throughout his long career he had a tremendous impact on the lives of many young people. Some of you who are reading this now work in television or film business. Some of you are businessman, military, or adventurers. Mr. Brazell and his class, for all of us, was home away from home. Why? Because he gave a damn. He cared for us, his students. He cared through advise, tutoring, pizza, rides home, and long hours after every other teacher went home. He was there for us 24/7. And to this day many of us still come and visit him at his house and we are treated like family. For my part, he cared when no one else would and thanks to this man and the long years of our friendship I became a better, stronger, and more confident person. How did he impact your life?
Here is what is going on. A student from his TV 1 class did not like the grade he or she got. Went in front of administration and made up a bunch of lies. As you know we live in a generation of political correctness, weakness, and laziness. Instead of believing the word of a teacher, of a man who we all know to be honest and trustworthy individual they took the word of the disgruntled kid. Now he is facing termination. Whats worst he is facing termination of his pension. How is this just? It is not.
I call on all of you to stand up for this honorable man. Respond to this petition! Write letters to the school principle Address: 5500 FL-100, Palm Coast, FL 32164 - principal Dustin Simms.Follow this link and write him an email http://fpcbulldogs.com/staff-directory

My son Drew is a very proud student of his. He has learned a lot in TV production over the past three years with Mr Brazell's mentoring and wouldn't have the same passion for the class without him as a teacher. He is not just a professor of the arts, but was teaching the kids life skills which they will use more in everyday life than calculus will ever play a role.
