I am an employee here at UCSD and it is hard for me to find parking even when I come two hours early.

My work schedule is dictated by the lack of campus parking. We all know there's a problem, so why isn't anything being done about it? The introduction of valet parking at an additional cost is not the solution.

I leave work at 630pm which is very dark and I feel unsafe having to walk so far to the parking structure.

And Parking office needs to be open At 6 am so staff that start at 7 am can buy a permit!!!!!! I recently received a ticket when I went to buy my 10 day pass at 8 am and received a $65 ticket $65 is way too expensive that's 2 hrs of work . Please lower your fines it's not right to take from people that are at their jobs saving lives or caring for your family members!

I have been clocking over 15,000 steps on my fitbit since we moved into the new ctri. Although I'm happy to increase my steps (!), the long walks to/from parking, to pharmacy and to the lab are really asking a lot of staff.

I now leave 20-40 minutes earlier than I used to for work (depending on the time of my shift)

There is no parking after 8. I walk in the dark to get to my car. I pay for parking and can't get it. It is a terrible situation. I have already had my car vandalized. I have to leave 2 hours early and still can't park. A miserable situation

We should be refunded all the times we have had to pay extra like the 8.00/day when parking was not available.

Yes I agree that we are expected to walk several blocks to get to our workplaces and parking locations are being taken away due to new construction.

Shameful to charge employees (B-permit holders) the outrageous fee of $1,200.00 annually and have no guaranteed accessible parking!

I experience the same issues working off the School of Medicine Campus.

I don't mind walking but for the amount of money we a charged there should be plenty of spots and should be stress free to find parking

It is a slap in the faces of the B permit employees to walk by HUNDREDS of empty A permit spots on their way in to work from a parking lot that is a 15+ minutes walk from the their work area.. I now have to leave home an additional 30 minutes early to be able to get to my office on time. Its bad enough that we don't get raises or the bonuses we were promised, but now this. Thank you UCSD. It shows how much thought you put in to the needs of the "backbone workers" on your medical campus. You embarrass yourselves!!

I attended a meeting where they used this analogy: Parking permits are a lot like hunting licenses...you have to have one if you want to participant, but that doesn’t guarantee that you are going to bag a deer. It is disrespectful to charge employees for a "chance" at finding a parking space. The parking situation is pretty bad here in La Jolla and hopefully, UCSD can do something quickly to quiet the crowds.

I don't understand why I have to pay for something that is more of a detriment to me than a benefit. I have to arrive to work very early to walk very far and not only am I not compensated for this but I am PAYING for it. I think a viable solution would be to put clock in devices in the parking structure so we are compensated for our long walk times. Either that or we shouldn't have to pay for such a horrible service.

I don't mind walking, but I do mind the extra time it takes, extending my workday, and time away from my family.

Working until 16:30 to 17:00 most evenings, I leave ECOB in the dark and park at Athena Structure. The Shuttle Van service is a JOKE and I have complained numerous times to Roy(?) Last year when we parked in P702 we had Golf carts solely for the lots and did not have to rely on the van service that gets stuck in traffic on Executive, Regents and East Gate Mall for their Chancellor Park stop. We need the golf cart service back!!!

What really annoys me is that these problems were obvious and foreseeable: They built two new large buildings but included zero provision for additional parking for staff in those buildings...

While I do not mind walking, I should not have to pay to walk so far to my office. The parking fees should be significantly reduced. Additionally, in the rain and the dark, it is dangerous and frustrating that I am paying so much. Offering valet parking for employees! We already pay too much, so who is going to valet park?? It does not even make sense; except to let us know that the University just wants to make more money off of us!

As UCSD employees, we are paying for a service we are not receiving. UCSD is paying for these structures on the backs of their employees yet not supplying us the ability to park in a reasonable distance of our respective facility. Plus, the current available parking spaces are insufficient making it horrible to find a space. What is our options going to be when the two new facilities are opened? NON EXISTENT PARKING. Also, employees are not able and should not be expected to shorten our workdays by the amount of added time it will take to get to our buildings. This effects productivity and attendance and in effect implements a pay cut for those who pay to park.
