There is a balance to be achieved in the distribution of staff parking spaces and patient/visitor's spaces. My biggest concept over this is that from the plans I have seen there is a proposal to put more hospital clinics and buildings within the bounds of the existing parking area. This will reduce the total number of possible spaces but increasingly the number of people using the hospital. Surely this is short sighted nonsense as is baseing everything on one site!!

I would not be able to work the hours I do to help an already understaffed ward if i couldn't use my car to take my children to school/nursery before and after work

You need staff to look after patients but you are more concerned about visitors and not listening to anybody reasons for a permit

It is wrong when Grampian Health Board are investing £300,000.000 for the future of Healthcare in the surrounding area that basic needs for staff is not looked on as a necessity.
Surely world class (operations) are based on first class facilities for all.

Absolutely ridiculous to expect nurses not to park at their work. They work long enough hours without having to add sometimes lengthy commutes to/from work.

Whilst with limited space the pressures on parking spaces is always going to be an issue; nevertheless I think this is a short-sighted policy. ARI is not on many direct bus routes, public transport in Aberdeen is expensive and inconvenient compared to other cities and there are numerous low-paid workers and those with dependants badly affected by the parking permit situation. It can only serve to make staffing issues more acute. I would also be concerned for the safety of workers travelling on public transport outwith daylight hours often to remote areas. I hope a better solution can be found.

12 hour shifts relying on buses etc would just cause problems and lack of sleep already without having to use the slow public transport. Also they do such a fab job at least give then a permit disgusting this was even thought about

I live 18.3 miles from ari busses don't go through my village until 6.40am and I didn't get a parking permit for ari although I am a current pass holder for this reason I'm the only one in my department who lives out with Aberdeen that didn't get a pass . Absolutely crazy how they expect people to get in on time to do their job X

I think the last thing the hard workers at ARI need after a very long hard day saving people's lives, is having to wait for their bus or train home!!!! Show them the respect they deserve! I am sure the person behind this stupid idea wouldn't be happy if they had an appointment for a serious operation one day and their surgeon couldn't make it to work as their train/bus was broken down or didn't turn up, would not be very happy! Think about all the patients that need these employees to help them survive!
Should be ashamed of yourself, whoever thought this outrageously stupid idea would be a good idea!!!!!!!

Working long days and unsociable hours does make it harder to take public transport to work. there is not any mode of public transport that will get me into work for a 7am start on a Sunday. Plus when my shift finishes at 7:30 pm it then takes me approximately 2 hours to get home via public transport, nb, via car, this journey to and from work takes only 25 minutes. Thus public transport is a bit of a headache when working long days and antisociable hours. Would very much like to be able to park at my place of work and not be required to have a permit.

This parking fiasco has been on going for years. What is the point of building more medical departments if you can't get doctors,nurses,domestics and porters to work as they can't get to work. Also why are they discriminating against the domestic staff as they were told by a manager that NO domestic would be allocated a permit... WHY??
