St. John Parents - Concerned about cuts

This is not a 'special education' issue, this is an 'everyone' issue and this decision will have nothing but a negative impact on all the children.

If inclusion is important at this day and age including children and supporting children Should be at the top of the priority list

Absolutely unacceptable! Severe cuts impact education and all of our futures since the children are our future doctors, lawyers, engineers etc.

All these cuts are effecting our children at the end of the day. We need to invest in Education now not later.

Give our children good education.

St Johns School is a jewel in the Beach and everything must be done to keep it operating at the highest level possible

Please read my emailed msg to Ms. Mitzie Hunter, Mr. Rory McGuckin, Ms. Angela Gauthier, Ms. Angela Kennedy, Mr. John Shanahan and Cristina Fernandes in regards to how this is unacceptable and how it affects my daughter Cameila Beard-Hill.

Enough is enough. We need to get our schools back from accountants and politicians

This is unacceptable. It always seems that the cuts that get made affect the ones that need the services the most. Another solution needs to be sought.

This is extremely disconcerting considering my son is one of those 77 children that has a learning disability and may have to pull him out if this occurs.

It is clear that these are cuts that St.john school cannot afford to have. How is the remaining staff supposed to take on the additional responsibilities many of which they aren't qualified for? Over 17% of the students at St.John are special needs. These cuts will have a negative impact on them and the rest of the student population. These decisions clearly need to be re-evaluated and overturned.

We cannot continue down this path of more and more cuts to staff at St John. This is clearly having a negative impact on oùr children's academic lives. I personally know of 5 students who have transferred out or are transferring out to other schools. We are also seriously considering this option for our Son if this downward spiral continues.

My son has high functioning Aspergers. He just graduated grade 8 at St. John School. He needed integration into a neurotypical classroom. If the current cuts were in place, that would not have been possible. No other options exist for such high functioning ASD kids!

These excellent staff members will not stay around much longer, I'm sure, being as overworked as they are.

St. John's catholic school has provided our children with a positive teaching environment. Last year , our school was impacted by cuts where we lost a half time principal and a child and youth worker who was involved with the diverse needs of the students in our school. 75 students are on individualized educational plans. How is one administrator expected to care for the work involved in meetings for these children in addition to the daily needs of our student community. Both administrators are heavily involved in the day to day running of the school, meetings with parents and interactions with the students. The impact of losing the 50 vice principal this year will have negative impact on our children's education. I ask you to re-consider this decision.

Cutbacks to any child's education is despicable. They are the future & deserve the best education that is possible.

Our kids need more help, not less. And, our teachers and administrators need advocates, not accountants!
