St John Youth is instrumental in the development of the leaders of tomorrow, so it is imperative that the capital of Australia, no less, ensures it's survival to aid the future of their country

I spent nearly 20 years working iwth cadets in the ACT after i joined at age 11. Suspending the program based on not being able to find the leaders shows that there has been not real effort to look for people with the right temperament and experience to work with the youth that will later become leaders of the organisation. Time to stop looking at now and start looking t the future. Also work with the kids that show potential. get the organisation to mould to them not them to mould to the organisation.

You have no clue how much St. John has changed my life. Once I was a loner who found it really hard to make friends and often felt useless. But when I joined, I made so many friends and know that life is worth living because of various experiences through St. John. It's such a rewarding experience... To know that you can save a life through the skills I've learnt as a cadet. It saddens me to think that people won't get the opportunity to get these experiences.

Youth development is a crucial part of any ambulance service. I myself came from a background of cadets, and am now a paramedic. That fundamental start to my career from being involved in youth was crucial to my development as a young professional, and as a functioning member of society.
