If we, as an independent company can afford a web cam on the Wharf then the council can certainly afford or should I say can't afford not to reinstate CCTV.

This service is a vital part of today's way of life. The cost of reinstating would be saved pretty quickly in terms of providing a safer environment for the town and in crime prevention/detection. I fail to see how anyone could dismiss their value when the evidence is clearlying in their favour. I can only see thus as yet another feeble cost cutting exercise by the council. They should be looking at their own value for money before attacking valuable community services such as CCTV

I want the reassurance that my family and friends will be safe, as In, watched over, when out in the town area and not just late evenings

St Ives is not different from other towns and should have the same protection. This would help make people feel safe as well as help fight crime

It's essential that the CCTV is reinstated in St Ives, it would deter crime and make everyone feel safer. I know of lots of business owners who had windows smashed last year due to drunken behavious

CCTV is an additional security every town should Benefit from. Not only to assist the police identify criminals but to assist finding lost children, older people suffering from dementia who may have wondered off CCTV has to be a useful tool to help locate them. Also in traffic congestion identify the problem quickly and send a police officer to assist and direct. In an emergency and roads need to be closed to allow emergency vehicles access. CCTV can quickly identify and send assistance. It is a necessary tool and St Ives needs it so please Town Council take it back to the table to reconsider your decision and reinstall

It's crazy that this service was removed. When I worked in one of the local pubs, I saw how the cctv was utilised. On several occassions the local pubwatch used it to keep track of people causing a disturbance or a but worse for wear, it was used by the police when fights broke out in the street and people had to be aprehended and also for shoplifters. Please consider reinstating this valuable tool to help keep our community safe.

We have CCTV and successfully caught a driver who crashed into the house next door causing considerable damage. He drove off without owning up

It's madness not to have CCTV in a busy tourist town like St Ives, there was grant funding for it, the business community wants it, the local people want it.
