Far too big an asset to the Devon and Cornwall tourist industry to lose. It must be restored as soon as possible Tourist

Have booked on The Royal Duchy for 7 Sep - contacted RTC to determine situation. RTC replied "Regarding the Royal Duchy tours, we expect the the problem affecting the tours will be remedied in time for all the other tour dates after 15th June 2014". Don't know what they have in mind!!.

Essential that this turntable is retained. DB quoting a six-figure sum for its repair is a poor excuse for not maintaining it. They're probably hoping that others will pay for it instead.

This turntable is essential for future steam tourist train operation into and out of Cornwall.

Our rail network and assets has suffered incalculably from shot-sighted decisions - let this not be another one

This is an important piece of our national rail infrastructure in a strategic location. It is also part of our rail heritage. If a German Stae-owned company will not undertake basic maintenance under the terms of their lease, then they should get out of the way and let people who can and will do it properly look after our interests.

A sad loss to Cornwall. Surely the idea of a Friends group is worth exploring?

Hundreds of thousands of pounds are given to other "good causes", and returning this to operational condition benefits many people, not just including the tourist sites and hotels. Who doesn't love the sound and sight of a steam train at high speed? Without somewhere to turn round, that's a lot of lost money coming into Cornwall - far more benefit than expenditure.

All very intriguing why such short notice given by DBS of the alledgedly poor condition/unavailability of this Turntable when surely it has been the subject of routine planned Inspection & Maintenance in accordance with Contract/Compliancy requirements with NR/the asset owner. Suspect this could be part of a wider act to vacate/sell the whole of the St Blazey Shed /Yard complex. Perhaps the Asset owner should seek the views of an independant Engineer as to the real condition of this Turntable and possibly even a Charity set up to look after it ..at least someone to seek EU Objective one funding etc to return it to use.
