As valuable professionals for our students, SSPs should have the same dignity on the job that teachers have.

As a special education teacher in the district, I can vouch for how valuable our SSPs are to our schools and how everyone suffers (but especially students) when we are not able to retain excellent SSPs. Not to mention, what a move like this would say to our current and longtime SSPs...terrible move, D-11!

These positions are ESSENTIAL and deserve to be treated as such!!! A school nurse/ social worker/counselor/psych can make 2-3 times as much in private practice. Do you really want to keep them guessing year to year as to whether they will have a job??? It is entirely WRONG for a district not to show the same support to these people as they show to our children.

Rising mental health needs of students requires highly skilled and dedicated SSPs. Please align D11 priorities and funding with this need.

I do not understand how this is even a consideration. We are all part of the team to support our students. How is this equitable?

I’ve personally seen the necessity for, and the progress and results, these wonderful staff members. I’m afraid if it becomes an “at will” position you will not have the wonderful employees that you do now. You want great employees, show them their value.

Our school counselor, OT, PT and SLP are extremely important to our school and children. D11 PLEASE don't treat them like they are not. What's happening is not right.

I was a counselor in D11 for over 20 years, I strongly urge Superintendent Thomas and the Board of Education to treat all SSP employees with dignity by not passing this harmful measure.

As a D11 homeowner and experienced teacher, I am very concerned and honestly confused by this proposal. The damage this will cause to the students of D11 is unfathomable!

Just because a district CAN do this doesn't mean they SHOULD. It is difficult to understand how this is in the best interests of students. . .

As a former D11 employee it is incredibly sad to watch a district I once adored treat SSPs in such a disrespectful manner. In a time where mental health could not matter more, the district is choosing to tell current counselors and other SSPs that they are replaceable and disposable. Disappointed.
