We have a hard enough time finding SSPs, what happens when they don’t have a contract and can go get another job at a better paying district or facility? Our Special Education students won’t get their services. Bad idea D11!

In a district that values equitable practices it's hard to imagine how this proposal is helping in assisting us meet that mission and vision. SSP providers are absolutely crucial in closing achievement gaps and meeting individual needs of students. Please don't make us expendable when we've dedicated years and years in to service just because we get "too expensive".

These people are an integral part of our student support and need to be viewed as such.

If they change SSP positions to probationary status, how is the District ever going to be able hold on to good, experienced professionals. It will become an entry level position used as a stepping stone. They will then go to other locations and positions that offer security and stability. This would be a lose-lose proposition for both the District and the professional SSP staff :(

As a new counselor, I did not know that my job would be unstable. I love working in this district, but I do not think it's right, fair, or just to treat SSP's as disposable. I want to be able to serve my school and community without constantly worrying about job security. All SSP's deserve better.

Please reconsider and secure contracts for SSPs just like those of other educatiors in the District. They have been, and are critical and vital in helping our students and many of us during COVID-19. How will District 11 find and keep these positions filled for the future? Why would a person in these fields WANT to work in District 11 knowing their positions are not secure. A result of this will be harmful to our students and staff because we will not have quality individuals apply to work for the District. This course of action says the social and emotional health and learning of our student body IS NOT A PRIORITY. Is this how we, District 11, want to be viewed? Our enrollment is falling and this certainly will not make us a desirable choice for families choosing schools for their children. Please reconsider the importance of SSPs in District 11 and act accordingly! Thank you!

SSP’s are a valuable part of our school communities. They deserve to be shown they are valued by honoring the long term commitment they have made to the District in a reciprocal way and providing them with a sense of security.

I have been an employee of District 11 for 24 years and a SSP for almost 17 of those years. It is disheartening for me to think that our service and dedication o the District is not valued on the same level as teachers.

To ask an employee to commit to a job- but you are not committed to them is not best practice- and will leave the district finding it more difficult to fill these required positions. I think it sends a message of poor leadership and commitment to growth, no continuity, and no connection to the core of serving students. What is the districts message or purpose with this proposal?

Teachers and students need the support of SSPs. Please give them a reason to stay in the district.
