The parents have been marginalized and those who suffer are the children. The Board, Clergy and Faculty are proud of the work they do to serve their own needs and not protect their flock. This petition is going to be ignored. The church is going to do whatever they want. I've been around this church long enough to know there is no openness and nothing will change. I applaud the effort, they should know how much you care about your kids. Hopefully nothing will happen to one of them so they can't regret their ignorance of the subject. Make sure you donate to the Generations of Faith campaign though! AMEN!

The fact that this petition has such strong support should be commended. Agitation is not an accurate term in this instance as this is a respectful forum with perspective from those who agree and do not regardless of who created this vehicle to drive the debate. There is support to keep the children of the school safe and it seems the goal is to share the space if I understand correctly. What does paying rent have to do with anything? I do not have children at the school but I am a long time parishioner and the community has been fractured as of late. I've heard many voice concerns about the current financial state of the parish and the mishandling of funds given generously by those who care about Saint Saviour. I can only assume your tuition would pay for rent expenses or other needs to benefit the students. It just seems the kids are being denied of a safe space whether it is ideal or not is not the point. I'm praying the church and parents can find a resolution. We should all be united during this important season to find solace in our religion. Let us pray on the matter.

This is a big mistake on several levels:
1. The creators of this petition should identify themselves immediately. There is no place in the St. Saviour community for anonymous agitation. I signed this petition under the impression that this was a transparent, group effort to have a discussion. I now officially retract my support for this action.
2. This problem is our own. The church supports the school in a wide variety of monetary and other ways (including allowing the school to occupy an incredibly valuable tract of land at ZERO RENT, use of the parish hall, etc.). There was never any indication that the parking lot would be a recreation space - none of us expected that when we joined the school. The church is under no obligation to solve our problem.
3. If we want to find a solution to the outside recreation issue, we should first meet as a school community (including Maura and the rest of St. Saviour administration), come to agreement, and then take appropriate action. That action might involve addressing the church, or it might not. The discussion is paramount. This petition is not the appropriate forum, and ambushing the Bishop after mass is an overly aggressive tactic that will likely be seen as offensive.
4. If we want to improve the school and take progressive action, we must act in a responsible orderly fashion. I will gladly attend a forum on the recreation issue, but I will not be party to an anonymous petition or a public protest action.

If the church owns the school and lot shouldn't they use it for the betterment and enrichment of the school? Clergy are not above following the same rules we all follow as it relates to parking. We all abide by alternate parking and the stress of looking for spots. What is happening makes no sense. Those who are charged with leading our spiritual well-being do not feel an obligation to our children rather they serve their own convenience which, dare I say, is hypocritical. Let the church do the right thing and mend the fractured parish.

Recess/outdoor should be a part of every kids daily routine. What is better than having it in back of our own school!

Hi, Can the person/people responsible for this petition please let us know who you are? It would be good to meet and talk strategy and facts. I have been speaking to a few other parents about this issue for a month or more. Some are concerned that this petition will be seen as too aggressive, others not.
The one fact that we can not overlook is that the school building and parking lot belong to the church, not the academy. We don't want to jeopardize our good relations with the church so this needs to be handled with the utmost tact.

The church has no problem requesting "prayerful consideration" for money for they should consider with heavy prayer why they denying our children a safe haven. This is shameful. Shame on the Bishop and Fr. Frank!
