This is exactly what SPU needs. As an alumna I'm excited that diversity is finally getting addressed on a school wide level.

As an SPU alumnus, current staff member, and past donor, I commend this petition. These are changes that must happen, and they must happen now. I pray that we as a university community would have the humility, compassion, and willingness to embrace the other as modeled by Jesus Christ. We have talked about this for far too long. It is time for action.

SPU is in a unique position to form and influence the next generation of Christ followers; either to become a generation of reconcilers or yet another generation of christian's who talk far more than they walk. I implore the administration to lead by example and make the stated changes, knowing that to not do so would devastate the credibility of this institutions commitment to Christ-centered reconciliation.

Signing this with great hope and encouragement and love for SPU. As a former student and woman of color, I feel that too often the administration's response to my own and other students requests for more cultural competency was to "wait." May you do what is right and stand for your students who have already waited and are waiting more still.
