Spring St Lexington, MA Traffic Calming

We, the undersigned, as residents and local neighborhood users of Spring St, believe that: 1)The volume and law-breaking behavior of traffic on Spring St. is a risk to the residents, pedestrian and other users of the street 2)The addition of a sidewalk to one side of the street without significant traffic calming measures and safe crosswalks would constitute an increased risk or, at best, a neutral change 3)“Less Aggressive” measures such as signing and markings will not be adequate to make the sidewalk safe and effective We, therefore, request, in the strongest terms, that suitable measures be taken to mitigate traffic volume and behaviors - namely aggressive, contemporary traffic calming features and crosswalks, including any or all of: 1)“vertical shifts” including traffic tables and/or raised crosswalks and/or raised intersections 2)such safe crosswalks at all, or at least the majority, of intersections along Spring st. 3)“Horizontal shifts such as necking and center islands
