I agree that the ever growing school taxes are FAR higher here in this area than neighboring areas. We have seen a steady increase in them for a few years now, WHEN DOES IT END???

I agree with anonymous ... the way homes have been added to our district, why are taxes going up???? My parents also live in this district, retired, in their late 80's .... how in the world do these people afford such ridiculous hikes on such a limited income... not fair at all!!! We are being monetarily raped by our townships and it's time to take a stand!!

There have been so many new homes added to the district over the last few years. There should be more than enough tax money to cover all expenses without hiking them up...again.

By the time I would like to retire my property taxes will be more than double what they are today if the same increase continues. There is no way this can go on without people losing their homes in retirement or people leaving PA in general. PA is the ONLY state in the USA that allows a teacher's union to control property taxes.

As high as the taxes in the area already are, it is unconscionable to expect even more of a tax increase. The taxes are considerably higher than in neighboring Maryland, despite Maryland schools getting higher ratings on GreatSchools and other sites. As far as spending more money while keeping everything else the same, I am reminded of an old saying - the definition of insanity is trying the same thing and expect different results. As outrageous as the taxes are already, rising them further is insane.

Just moved here from out of state. These taxes are insane! You can't possibly be serious about more of an increase.

As students continue to lose ground to other less developed countries we continue to spend more and do less with that money. The majority goes to salaries, benefits and retirement not to the students and their needs. Compare standards between Maryland and ours and our students fall far short. What are we paying for. Cuts need to start at the top salaries not at the custodial level which is minimal. Stop giving across the board percentage increases and start giving equal dollar increases to save money and be fair to all empolyees, not just the wealthiest.

Raise the damn sales tax between 7 and 10 percent and let's get these worthless school and property taxes gone. It was proven to work back around 2000 but this damn pocket hungry schools and state just love driving us out of our homes. Just do it already. Stop questioning what if. To tell the truth. I have about 5 years before I will have to sell my home because of school and property taxes. I am not about to take out a loan to pay my taxes. Thank you the state of Palestine and school districts for making me homeless.

Other states don't pay these high taxes and seem to get along just fine. We are lining somebody's pockets. If this keeps up there's going to be more homeless people cause they can't pay the taxes.

I'd agree to pay this increase in taxes if our schools weren't overcrowded and understaffed! Where's all the money??

I feel they could cut down on some of the buses. They have buses picking up an dropping off with not a full bus. There are buses passing stops to where they could have dropped off. To me there is a lot of wasted fuel.

From what I understand, SWSD is the highest taxed district in PA. I would like to better understand the reasoning behind the outrageously high tax! I happily sign the petition to join the fight in reducing the school tax. Unfortunately; however, if this tax is reduced, lawmakers will surely increase them elsewhere...

Yup, SB/HB 76 legislation is the way to solve this problem.
