The bureaucrats at Progress Energy and the city think they can hide this sixty-five year giveaway behind closed doors. I am digging through the legal filings now to expose exactly who stands to profit from this theft of our tax base. They expect us to stay quiet while they lock North Carolina into a multi-decade disaster.

Stop giving special handouts to these big corporations. Southport needs that tax money for real improvements.
TOTAL BS. My property taxes keep going up but they get off the hook for decades? not fair at all.
The state has the power to just annex it so why are they bending over backwards for progress energy? Makes no sense.
Ridiculous. No company should get a deal like this while the rest of us pay our share every single year. Cut it out.
Fix this before it's too late. Way too long of a timeline to give away.

65 years??? that is absolutely insane. why on earth would they lock us into that for so long. this is just wrong for the taxpayers.
