As a result, we are petitioning the NC State Legislature to De-Annex the southern area of Charlotte from the City of Charlotte and to either:
- create a new, independent town
- create an unincorporated territory
- allow the surrounding Southern Mecklenburg towns to expand their borders and include our area into their smaller towns
- some combination of the above

my property taxes are way too high for these potholes and poor police response times. Time to break away.
Enough is enough. Keep our tax dollars in our own community instead of sending them uptown where we get nothing back.

CLT just wants our money. They dont care about south charlotte at all.
The city has been ignoring this area for years. We deserve better schools and actual services for what we pay.

Finally someone is doing something about this. Charlotte treats us like a piggy bank while our infrastructure falls apart.
