Residents of Little Compton should have 24 hour access to the beach they pay for. It’s not right to block access to the Atlantic Ocean like it’s some type of private pond. My family enjoys fishing there at night and my disabled father will not be able to come with us if you block vehicle access at night. The residents who go down there at night are not the source of any problems for the town. I can’t tell you the number of times we’ve cleaned up other people’s trash while being there after hours. There is absolutely no reason to waste tax payers money on a permanent gate and I do not at all agree with paying for and putting cameras up Where people are wearing nothing but bathing suits and possibly changing clothes in their cars etc. It’s a tax payer town beach and residents should have access to their property 24 hours a day just as the renters and the RV folks do. The beach isn’t just for revenue generation - it’s there to be used by its residents!

the decision to restrict resident access is not rational. Just as Newport and other cities and towns have residential parking permits and Towns in NY have restricted beach access to residents, Little Compton should do the same. Many residents enjoy the beach best in the evenings, whether simply to stroll or enjoy the soothing sounds of the ocean. Rather than gates and closures, if there need to be limits, it makes more sense to issue resident parking stickers, limit access to residents until the pandemic passes, and use the local police to enforce a non-resident parking ban via parking tickets

The gate Should NOT be closed till at least 9: 00 p.m.. Also the gate should only be TEMPORARY till COVID-19 is no longer a threat .

This is wrong! What is time restrictions going to do? The working class people have a right to enjoy the beach while practicing safe distance. Closing the beach to Little Compton residences at 6pm is not a option.

This is absolutely ridiculous and very inconsiderate of the beach committee. Us LOCAL people / YEAR-ROUND residents should have access to OUR beach as we please! No fishing or surfing... the wealthy folks have already bought up just about evey other access point to the water and now the beach is closed.... May as well lock up all the other open space access points we have not just the beach. The Mill pond next??

Please do something concerning the overcrowding of Round Pound summer residents, there are too many people in very close quarters! Make South Shore a Town Beach!

Taking away a beautiful spot to sit and watch the waves during all seasons is absolutely unnecessary and heartbreaking. Why must our freedoms be taken away. Not fair, not nice, disgusting. You can't take nature away from humans. It isn't right!

I still own part of a estate and my family has been life long residents. I love fishing there and always have since a kid. Some times I would stay there till the sun comes up. The beach is our peice of heaven and nobody or no virus should take that from anyone.

I have lived and brought my four Children, in Little Compton, for 35 yrs. I am also a life long Surfer. I also have been on the Beach Commission. I spoke to Jim, at the beach and I understand the pressure you an he are getting. I woyld love to be involed with the solution.
The Surfers and Fishermen get to the beach at dawn. If someone (LC Police) could open the Beach gate at 4am, we would avoid the conflict that is brewing.
